So for almost a year, I wanted to be a doctor, but I was debating over what my specialty would be. I was leaning toward obstetrics, but now I don’t know what I want to do because I hate people and I don’t think that’s a great quality for a doctor. I’m currently taking biology, chemistry, and physics in high school, and I’m really enjoying physics. Now I think I want to be an engineer, but I’m not sure if I’m intelligent enough.

Writing an entry about getting my masters is a great way to avoid studying for my first grad school midterm…this goal isn’t a lot of fun.

I would like to go back for my Master’s in History. And I don’t really care if it lands me a job or not – I just want to do it for me.

Do I really want to do this? I can’t imagine studying again. But it’s been a goal for so long now I have a hard time walking away. Then again I have no interest at all in any programs I have seen, nor do I have time or money. I will meditate on it.

Think this will probably be an MCSW degree but need to get a nonprofessional job for a year or so to get back in the swing of things and think a little more. UGA has a dual degree for MCSW and
JD(jurist doctor, law degree). This sounds very interesting, but it’s a 4 year degree instead of two for MCSW and 3 for JD, and it’s located in Athens, which is too far to commute daily. Also, don’t have time right now to devote to a program like this, nor probably to even the MCSW degree until the kids are out of high school. Asked hubby to consider moving to Athens in 8 years. Figure that should be enough advanced notice.

I have started the process of getting my CFP (certified financial planner) certification. It involes taking 6 advanced courses and sitting for a 2 day test (along with holding a college degree and having 3+ years of work experience). The courses can also be applied to a masters in finance and banking at institution I am taking them.

Seriously, MD, JD, PhD—I don’t care. All have been really possible at one point or another. All are possible still. Or an MS. Even an MA. Hell, an MFA. ha
