So I did gain weight on vacation, 5 lbs. ugh. I was determined to eat healthy and get as much exercise as possible, but my mother, always the saboteur, (after calling and asking if I was eating “anything special” and her plans to make various healthy dishes) baked a bunch of cookies, brownies and toffee bars — all gluten and dairy free (I’m allergic to gluten and dairy) and bought a bunch of chips, etc. I was able to avoid the chips, but how do you get away with refusing something that was made especially for you? I did do some hiking, and always carried my nephew (about a year old, prob. about 30 lbs with the backpack) on all the hikes, but I still gained 5 lbs over the week. I have lost it now, but am frustrated because I’ve lost two weeks and am fast approaching on my trip to Greece. I’m still trying to lose 20 lbs. before then, bringing me to a healthy bmi. We leave for Europe Sept. 2.

It does not seem that eating a normal healthy diet and working out regularly is getting me anywhere. I’ve finally started getting some results by eating a strict 1200 calorie/day diet and doing intense cardio for 2 hours every day because I really need to start losing weight at a much quicker rate. I have a beach vacation in September, I really wanted to get to 120 for it, but at this point I’m just pushing for under 150.

I finally hit the 20 lb mark today! I am very excited about that, but disappointed about how long it took me to get here. I gained the 20 lbs in less than a month, and it has taken over a year to get it off, and this is just the beginning. Still, 20 lbs is a major milestone, almost 1/3 of the way there. Here’s to the next 50!
