7daydreamer is getting back on track
i have to get on top of this. i have to realize that saved money will allow me to do a lot, charity, volunteering, less working, travelling, shopping, etc.

After actively deciding that this is the first step in completing all my other goals I have started listening to the the CD series of Choose to be Rich by the author Robert Kiyosaki who created the well known book Rich Dad,Poor Dad.
He goes on to say that after changing your attitude about money, wealth, and risk etc. that you must learn to read a financial statement. He rightly explains that after you graduate school your financial statement and portfolios are your ‘report cards’ in life.
I think the entire point of creating a budget and sticking to it is so that your always adding money to your bottom line and so that you have the “freedom” (time or means) to accomplish your dreams and goals.
That being said there are many good spreadsheets out there that cost you nothing but the time to fill them in on excel or in google docs.

First step will be that I am creating one :)
We didn’t follow the budget this month. Spent too much money on eating out, and spent $ on home decor items that wasn’t budgeted. We’re going to need more self-discipline to do this. And I also need to spend time EVERY MORNING to review the checkbook and budget, so we stay on track. If I let it go for too long between budget reviews, we tend to just spend money on whatever. I have to keep us both on track!
