try doing stand-up comedy at an open-mike night

I have been to two open mic’s and have performed in a stand-up thing elsewhere. It is the most addictive thing. I plan to do one a week from now on.

There’s nothing like just doing it. It’s a real, visceral experience that cannot be read about; it has to be done, to be appreciated. What you face inside yourself and outside yourself will be revealing in a way you cannot normally see. It’s a blast for blast sake. It’s not likely, but it may actually lead you someplace new in life.

I recommend Judy Carter’s book “Stand-up Comedy: The Book” for preparation.

The real reason club owner’s have open-mike nights is to put paying drinkers in the seats and have new audiences try a club, so they might come back some time.
