How I did it: I saved. That's it. I took all the money I made that didn't have to go twords somthing more important and put it aside. Look for good deals online. The retail price for my camera is about $750 and by looking around first I managed to get mine for $550. That's a $200 difference. I'm so excited to start using it! Read how I did it…

How I did it: I already had a camera, a Canon Powershot A630, but I got it several years ago and as much as I love it, the thing was a BRICK. So I did a little research and evaluated what I wanted in a camera. I personally knew that I wanted a smaller camera I could bring with me just about anywhere and one that was durable. I researched a ton, and being a die-hard Canon fan it was hard looking at other cameras but once I branched out I found the… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I won a Canon Powershot G10 camera! How cool is that? It was the door prize at an event I almost didn't attend. Sometimes it's your lucky day. The reason it took me 5 months to replace my stolen Konica-Minolta Dimage was that I couldn't decide what to buy. That decision was made for me tonight. The G10 was on my short list of cameras to consider. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I was holding out to get a manual focus digital CANON ($400+), so I wouldn't let my husband buy anything else. That is, until we came across a great deal on a Canon Digital Elph Powershot ($125). I relented and have been taking pictures ever since. I could regret the moments I missed capturing due to my stubborness, but I'm to busy enjoying my new camera!! Read how I did it…

How I did it: I have been waiting to get a new camera. Finally, the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW came out. It was the camera that I wanted. It is water-proof to 33 feet, and everything. But, after I *SO* wanted that camera, the Stylus Tough 8000 came out, and I just had to have it. So now I have it, and it's AWESOME. I love it. Read how I did it…

Wasn’t exactly expecting to do this again so soon – or, indeed, in the next couple of years! – but here we are with an upgrade. Wowee! :)
Z will be ok, always :)
not very happy with it, but just for now i have one. maybe i rushed too quickly into buying it to the point that i didnt even pay attention to the details…shame on me.
will get a better one soon, but for now, i’ll settle with this one.

So last week it was just delayed; yesterday’s request for an update received a response that my spare battery was damaged and they’re waiting for new stock – and delivery should be ‘next week’. Again.
So I’ve sent a politely stinging email suggesting that they either send the camera separately, or refund the money to my credit card until they are actually ready to dispatch.
Grr.
Z will be ok, always :)
i lost my previous one. i need to get a new one and capture the moments.

I’m going to wait till I get it before I cross it off the list, but I ordered a Nikon D60 today. I’m excited and a little freaked out about spending the money (and the money I will spend in the future to accessorize) but I’ve wanted to take this hobby up a notch for a very long time so I need to stop feeling guilty and start feeling this is worth it!

So it’s day five of the 2-5 day delivery, and no camera. I emailed last night chasing order status, and got some waffly apology and ‘it’s in the last stages of processing’ and they reckoned it’d be with me next week.
I think I’ll wait til I actually get the camera before I point out that it’s fraudulent to charge my cc over a week before you dispatch any goods…

It’s done – or at least, ordered :)
Sat for half an hour with my friend M last night, as he talked me through options and picked out the best choice for me. Am well happy with the decision, now, and finally navigated google checkout to place my order!
[edit: I likes Google Checkout! It lets your track your order – not delivery, but it’s showing the order placed, passed to the company, and that they then charged my credit card already!]
So… some time during the week I’ll be ticking this goal off – and adding another re learning to use it!? :)
Hot damn! Tonight I attended an event organized by the professional association to which I belong, and WON a Canon Powershot G10 camera! I was elated! Thank you CAPIC and Vistek!
I’ve been getting along with cameras borrowed from friends and relations for about 5 months now. Clearly not a sustainable situation. I find myself unable to decide what to get, though, hence the delay.
