I am a single mom and I have two children and I want to organize my life!!

NEEDS TO BE PUT IN ORDER. I HAVE ONE CHILD AND ONE ON THE WAY AND I FEEL FRUSTRATED … I WANT MY LIFE SO ORDERLY THAT IF I STEPPED OUT, A MONKEY COULD TAKE OVER.
Daily check
1. Drink 7 cups of water
2. Take some fruits
3. Take in 2 portions of vegetable
4. Have at least 6 hours of sleep
EVERYTHING needs to be organized labeled and put in order just in case something happens to me unexpectedly.
Its amazing with coming home to a ‘nice’ place does for the psyche. I spent the last 3 years living in this one apartment down the road..that I just hated. The way $$$ was going it was really hard for me to save and get out. But I FINALLY did. Now I hae a plush 1.3k sq foot place on third floor over looking the valley…freaking beautiful sun rises (all windows facing southern sky)...crown moldings…etc. Its made organizing things, keep things clean, cooking…working…all an enjoyment. I’m just really thankful, lord knows life isn’t easy for ANYONE, and being bless to live in this country…and have such great opportunities….one can only close their eyes and say ‘thank you’...to whatever deity you calm…ya know?

I think I’ll make myself get my room clean by Tuesday. If not, I’ll make myself take the bus on Wednesday. My grandparents are coming, and a decently clean room would be nice and my mom would appreciate it.
“Declutter your mind, declutter your home, declutter your relationship to food. Then watch the ripple effect this has on every aspect of the way you live. Clear out the junk, and in doing so clear out the patterns of thought and behavior that prevent you from living the life you want. If you try to clear the clutter by focusing on the stuff, you will fail to get organized. It’s not about the stuff. If you try to lose weight by focusing on the food, you’ll never change your body for good. It’s not about the food. First define the life you want to live. Acknowledge the issues that clutter that vision. Clean up your priorities. Create a world where those priorities can thrive. Learn how to honor and respect yourself. When you do, the ability to take control of your body will follow.”
From Peter Walsh, Does this Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?
must shred (no, not on the guitar)...my papers and bills. that’s the next big thing. it’s gone from pile to molehill to mountain!
EDIT (1/10/08): Yes! I piled it all up and brought it to work, to the industrial shredder. So nice not to have that huge pile there. Now I can keep up with the few pieces that come in daily.
I would LOVE to get organized! But mostly I end up sitting in my messy living room (picture it: coffee table cluttered with mail, books, magazines, knitting projects in progress, mugs, etc. couch cushions askew, blankets, sweatshirts…Okay. You get the picture!) looking around at all I COULD do and wind up doing NONE.
So I got this tip off of zenhabits.net and I’m going to try one at a time:
Try these habits for at least two weeks each before going onto the next:
1. hang your clothes up or put them in hamper immediately
2. put all papers (including school papers, post-in notes, bills, etc) in one in basket, and process at the end of each day (use the steps in Clearing Your Desk)
3. keep you sink clean and shiny (wash dishes immediately, clean sink after)
4. pick up before you go to bed and before you leave the house
5. empty your trash daily
6. 15 minutes decluttering sessions each day (see How to Declutter)
7. clean your shower, toilet and bathroom sink after each use (only takes a couple minutes!)
have a place for everything, and put everything in its place immediately
8. make your bed each morning {Yay! I already do this…since I started it’s really become wonderful to come back to my room at the end of the day)
9. keep flat surfaces (counters, tables, desks) clear of clutter This one seems like it will be a challenge. After all, what are flat surfaces FOR? (Besides lying down?)
10. put away your stuff as soon as you get home
The closet is cleaned out.
And I’m very happy to find that I have been keeping ahead of my bills/mail. I went to add something to my usually huge pile of recycling and found that I had already taken it out!
Work is on its way…I just have to start working on the food habits next. It’s just wayyyy to easy to go buy a muffin in the morning than make some eggs and toast. But I’ll get there :).
