So today I was at lunch with three co-workers. Two of these are women- who I work with daily, one of whom is vegetarian. The other is an older man (at least 70) who consults with us. I see himprobably once a quarter.
Anyhow he told a story about how his grandson who is 4 never ate meat. The child as he was given solid food always refused meat. He would never eat it because he didn’t like it. At an annual check up the doctor determined that he was slightly protein deficient. It was determined that he “had to” start eating meat. The grandson was convinced that eating meat was the ONLY way that he would grow up strong. The kid was so excited that he ate a piece of chicken he called up his gandparents and proclaimed “I’m a Meat Eater”.
The thing was the whole family- instead of looking at other ways to obtain protein justlet the kid become deficent and then forced meat intohim. And the doctor simply intisted that meat was the only answer.
The other vegetarian woman and I just kid of looked at one another. She started to say something but stopped and siad that she did not ant to get on a soap box. I kept my mouth shut as well feeling that my words would do nothing for this gentleman.
