So the herbs are fantastic. The mint is growing like mad (all three varieties). The sage, thyme and particularly the parsley are growing like weeds.
The tomatoes pose more of a challenge. I’ve already thrown one out because of bottom blossom rot. On Friday two plants “fell” and broke off significant portions of the stems. We watered well but with the super hot weather on the weekend, when we got back on Sunday the whole lot of them looked very sad.
I’ve watered and can only hold my breath that I might get but one tomato out of my efforts. Sigh.

I went to the VanDusen garden plant sale on Monday and got ready for spring. I filled my window boxes with chives, greek oregono, golden sage, parsley and par-cel (a mix of parsley and celery). In my pots I’ve got rosemary, mint, chocolate mint and pineapple mint.
I also picked up four tomato plants: Black Japanese Triffle (deep purple shaped like a pear), Purple Cherokee (purple heirloom), German Striped (red and yellow striped tomatoes) and Valencia (little orange tomatoes). None of my plants are red, but I don’t like eating tomatoes anyway!

FL_Cutie believes "every day above ground is a good day".
Right now I grow tomatoes, parsley, oregano, tarragon and basil.
I used to grow cilantro and chives as well, but they bit the dust when I adopted my dog! I’ve since relocated the herb and tomato garden to the front of the house to avoid doggie destruction, but have yet to replace the cilantro and chives.

but way worth it once you get the hang of it, keep the weeds out, etc., etc. (herbs are the easy part, btw.)

I’ve more herbs than I need! The chives are awesome and the parsley is taking over the flower pot. Oregano is starting to flower and the dill is about 3feet tall. I might harvest them now for the winter. No tomatoes this summer, but hopefully by this time next year I will have a veggie patch?

I’m so proud of my tiny tomatoes, thyme, parsley and basil! Delicious with olive oil and fresh bread :)
