How to join a book club and participate"Book clubs online..."
How I did it: For those of you that are either having trouble finding a book club to participate in, or those of you who just simply aren't much into dealing with the whole meeting up (in real life) portion of the book club scene; you may want to consider online book club social networking sites such as librarything.com , shelfari.com , and goodreads.com . They give you a chance to keep track of books you've read, you'd like to read, and you're currently reading. You can also join groups; many of which are structured so that it's like participating in an actual book club (all members are reading a certain book for a month or so, the book is discussed, then they move onto another book). If the traditional book club isn't for you, you should really check out the newer idea of online book clubbing :D Lessons & tips: If the traditional book club isn't for you, you should really check out the newer idea of online book clubbing :D Resources:

Caitie B. Went Horseback Riding! Check one of those things off my list =)
How I did it: I became fans on the Vlogbrothers on YouTube, and they have a book club. One of the brothers is a writer, so of course his books are in it...but they're good! Definitely look them up if you get the chance! Read how I did it…

Eleanor's Trousers is starting 101 in 1001 days on 08/06/08
I read the book, I brought snacks, and I showed up to book club. Hooray. Mission accomplished. I even spoke (quite a bit).
laurelelizabeth has conquered the internet!
my friend started a book club and it was really fun. we discussed books and poetry, and talked about people, and had an interesting conversation on msn with this guy she was dating, and it was fun. it kind of stopped after school ended.
I just finished my first blog entry on the book of the month. While this month’s book ended up not being great, I feel good about having followed through. Next month looks a lot more promising.
Since I graduated college, I have felt a real lack of brain strain-in a bad way. I am not pushing myself enough to stay sated. I think a book discussion club-even if it is just online-will provide a small semblance of structure. I am a Taurus-structure and organization are a life source. Wish me luck! I found a forum that looks like it will fit my needs at onlinebookclub.org

I have technically been a member of a book club now for at least six months.
Every month I get the invitation in my e-mail along with the assigned book. At least three times, I have actually read the ssigned book. But it seems like in the months that I read the book, I end up scheduled for something else on the night of the meeting. Or if I’m free for the meeting, I haven’t even picked up the book yet.
So, the next day I get a great e-mail about the delicious wine and snacks, stimulating discussion, great turnout, etc. And I am bummed. These sound like women I would love to meet up with monthly. Those smart, witty, book-reading women my life is so lacking right now.
So, I have officially resolved to show up at least once. I suspect if I can get it together one month, I will not want to miss the next one. The next meeting is 1/24/08 and I am 3/4 of the way through the book (The Emperor’s Children by Claire Messud). I think I can, I think I can.
Really. I will. Let you know how it goes.
got sort of forced into one – so that makes 3 extra curricuars for me yay!!!! Anyways we’re reading “Cider with Rosie” – gotta finish it in two weeks!
Joined my neighbor’s book club this summer. I am reading books I would not have read otherwise and I get to introduce others to the books I like. Great Fun.
Completely worth doing it!
Best place to find great books and great friends. =0)
