I purchased a piano book for my daughter’s piano curriculum. While no, it does not fall under the “essentials” of food, clothing, shelter…it is an educational expense which I believe is essential to her development. :)

I folded too! I didn't even make it a week... 2 years ago

I walked out of Target with a shopping cart and half were non-essentials. :( So I guess it’s start over time.

I caved in... 2 years ago

...and bought my 3 year old a teeball bat. It’s soooooo cute! And she loves to play catch with us in the backyard, and I thought – well maybe she could get the hang of hitting the ball and work on her hand-eye-coordination…etc.
But it was a TOTALLY unnecessary purchase and I completely forgot about the nonessentials thing!

Okay, starting over. Okay…AUGUST 14th here we come! ;)

I won't start this until Tuesday. 2 years ago

Monday is my birthday, but after that I’m on it.

It begins! :) I’m not forcing this on my husband – even though it’s OUR money collectively, I am not personally purchasing anything we absolutely do not NEED. And then on August 6th I’ll hand him the $$$ I saved by not buying any junk and tell him to go buy himself a treat. And then he’ll be inspired to not buy nonessentials, either. Sound like a plan??? :)

    two weeks in!

although, i’m just making lists in my head of things to buy. which basically just means i’m on consumption hiatus?

yuck. i really need to pare down what i already own, and be more selective about what i buy when this is over.
