2009KellyG why are there so many people on here with no activity? Not a good sign
Lets face it. Owning a home has its downsides. Like affording and performing tedious tasks. I would like to change the color and get it done sometime this fall. Looks like I’d better check the CCNR’s too.

Got the 1st floor in the back painted. I put two coats on and it looks good. Need to get some more paint and start working on the sides.

I had the house checked for termites after the handymand took the rotton weatherboards off and the evidence we found is not active. THANK GOD! That would have got stupid expensive. So the boards have been replaced and now it is all up to me.

I am only painting the front of the house, the sides were done a few years ago. The handyman came and measuered the rotton weatherboards, so I can start sanding in ernest. I scraped last night – so time electrical tools.

Having decided to paint the house, we removed some of the more questionable looking trim . It’s rotted through the siding and even eaten a bit of the 2×4s underneath. We just had the insurance guy out. (It’s not covered.)The contractor has been here, too. So, now I’m waiting for a quote.
The barn is now painted inside and out. However, the roof paint is peeling and has to be redone. The paint suppy store is supplying new paint for free, but the labor’s on us. Plus there’s water seepage from the water rack to the tack room despite all the drainage work I’ve done. So, that’s another problem to solve.
I had our handymen do the barn, thinking if that worked out they could paint the hose. Not a great idea. I now have discolored wood under clear polyurethane sealer and sealer here and there on the concrete floor. I can live with that in the barn, but not my house. So, I’m calling a third painter for a quote (the first two were astronomical. One guy wanted $7K and I had to supply the paint. Hilarious!)

I started the preparation and discovered that many of the weatherboards are no mare than paper machie. I can do the painitng, but I cannot replace the boards – so, I had to ring a workman today to give a quote. This could be a can of worms….
