How to make a hollow book
How I did it: Quick weekend project, would take only a few hours if there was no need to let the glue dry. Follow the HOWTO and you'll have a secret stash in no time.
Lessons & tips: Be patient and careful ;)

So what better and apt storage method than a hollow book? I bought a dummy book, white glue and a X-acto knife today. I’ve got a howto , a video , and a wiki . Let’s go.
Ideally, it should store both the reader and several memory cards. And I need to look into some sort of clasp or binder so it stays closed when it needs to. Or maybe magnets would do the trick, but that would put a damper on the memory card thing :)
Fatboygotsick is waiting again
Here is my hollow book. I decided to kill two birds with one stone and make the hollow book as part of F’s birthday present. He liked it a lot, and also the wee canvas I made to fit inside it too.
Fatboygotsick is waiting again
I tried making a hollow book years ago but it didn’t work properly. I want to try again and this time I will follow some instructions online so I do it correctly!
I found an out of date physics book in which i did this.
Don’t cut the hole too big because it will make the book too flimsy. Find some instructions online, because i spent ages with scissors stupidly trying to cut out as many pages as i could.
It took ages.
I found a copy of Reader’s Digest’s Anthology of Mystery and Suspense (1959) at a used book sale in my local mall on Saturday. I’d been searching the books for ones with interesting bindings or covers and this one seemed perfect. Under the dust jacket the cover is green with a beautiful spiderweb design.
I’ll likely create a custom spine for it, as that’s the one aspect of the book I’m not entirely happy with for this project.
entitled “Problems In Law” for $1 to gut. You can find big old hard back books for less than the price of compost (really) at library book stores. I got this one from a community college. Nick’s link was a lot of help, and I have to say that this is pretty awesome. Also, if you have the storage of a particular item in mind, you might consider cutting out the exact shape in the book. That way it retains a more natural weight and won’t rattle about inside.
I feel like Bond. James Bond. Worth doing.
