How to learn to geocache.
How I did it: I heard about geocaching a long time ago, but I never really had a GPS available to try it with and wasn't sure about buying one. After a year or so I got a cell phone with built in GPS, and decided to try it one day.
My first attempted cache was a bust (I later found out it had been taken), but the second time was the charm. I became the proud owner of a Garmin Etrex unit within a week of that first find.
And geocaching hasn't just been fun, I've found stunning landmarks and historical artifacts in my area that I never knew existed. I'm not talking little things either, I found a large natural bridge within 30 miles of my home.
Lessons & tips: Don't give up. There's been many caches were I was almost ready to call it quits, only to find that I'd basically walked right past it several times.
