I’m actually in the process of visiting Israel as I type this, but I figure it still counts to check off this goal. =) I’m having a little trouble with the food; my recent experience in India was not a good one and from that I’m wary of all unfamiliar foods. =P But I’ll survive. This place is incredible and it’s difficult to grasp the antiquity of it all! Our tour takes us to several places a day and I doubt I’ll remember half of what I’ve learned by the end of it. I’m keeping a journal as diligently as possible and enjoying myself very much! [between meals, anyway]. =P

How I did it: My best friend is Jewish and was spending a gap year in Israel, so I went out when I was 19 (2005) to see her.We spent the first few nights in Tel Aviv, a really nice place with lots to do, we had some awesome meals and ha cocktails on a beach as soft as flour! Also got to see the sun set across the Mediterranean. We also spent a night in Eilat, brilliantly picturesque and at the end of December, hotter than a British summer so obviously I… Read how I did it…

CONGRATULATIONS! You have been accepted on the January 2010 Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel trip!
Our trip dates are January 24 to February 5, 2010.
... hard to believe I’m actually going to pull this off, but it looks like I will!
theultimatedreamer is about to take the leap.
I am waiting to hear back from the Birth Right people…I was not raised Jewish but my family is so they are trying to determine my eligibility. I feel a draw towards this beautifully complex country and I hope I will get the opportunity to visit this summer.
I want to truly understand the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict. I want to know what makes the land so special that people would fight over it for so long.
staybeautiful24 is taking it easy.
My grandfather wanted to take the whole family but we never got to go together… I’ve been really wanting to go.
partofthetime will achieve balance between school, friends and one hobby.
I went on a Birthright trip in December, and while it wasn’t a huge spiritual awakening (I’m not a very spiritual person) it was a very awesome trip.
I went on four very unusual hikes, saw my friend who made aliyah (she met up with our group), and visited some very unique places such as the Dead Sea.
It was worth going and I would like to go again someday.
from two week trip to israel…
it was beyond words & definitely worth it.
seriously, GO.
it’ll blow your mind! :)
No, i’m seriously not just saying it, Birthright was the best 10 days of my entire life. From the people, the CULTURE, choco b’sakit(chocolate milk in a bag) pita, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Masada, Bedouin tents, camels, it just felt..like home.
People there love their country, and it shows, i feel like in America people notice America’s greatness, and wealth, but they don’t have this love for it, this devotion to its existance. Anyways, it would be a waste of time for me to try to explain how perfect it is, just go! :) It’s really perfect.
