How to drive the Pacific Coast Highway."the most beautiful drive I've been on"
How I did it: My husband and I did this trip for our honeymoon. Since we had limited time, we flew to San Francisco, rented a convertible and drove to LA. We then flew home to Seattle from LA. Our stops were: Resources: We stayed in INCREDIBLE places! Check out Tree Bones resort in Big Sur. It is a place where you stay in yurts and it even has an outdoor hot tub and sushi bar!! http://www.treebonesresort.com/ I also recommend the Sycamore Mineral Springs in San Luis Obispo http://www.sycamoresprings.com/ definitely use their sulfur tubs! Also, we love this restaurant for it's awesome atmosphere and incredible view! http://www.nepenthebigsur.com/ |

How I did it: Two summers ago, my mom and I went to California to visit my brother, who lived in Monterey at the time. We flew into Sacramento, rented a car, and drove the Pacific Coast Highway all the way to Monterey. It was the epitome of a "Kodak moment". The area is just amazing, so very blue and peaceful. :-) Simply fantastic. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Started at Santa Cruz CA, and south within eyesight 90% of the time from the ocean. Hwy 1- El Camino Real, 101 and I 5 to La Jolla in San Diego County. Read how I did it…

How I did it: So, I haven't driven the whole highway, but when I lived in CA this was my preferred driving route to get from Long Beach either up north to the Malibu area or down south towards the San Clemente area and other destinations in between. I found it to be a relaxing and scenic drive. When I was young and my mom drove us to school from Long Beach to Newport Beach on PCH I remember being mesmorized by the beaches along the way.&nbs… Read how I did it…

This is an awesome drive! I had to make it in 2 parts, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The best section for me was from Monterey to Cambria. I plan to do the entire PCH from Seattle to San Diego next spring.

Hi,
I accidentally found this site because I was trying to see how traffic was on PCH today, 4th of July. What a cool site! It is linked up to the live traffic report for PCH.

A beautiful and fun drive! Don’t be in a rush, it is better to be able to pull off and check things out and take pics along the way!

I didn’t do it all, but I did Santa Monica to San Francisco, stopping at Santa Barbara and Monterey Bay on the way.
It is sooooo beautiful and well worth doing. A highlight was driving along the Big Sur at dusk. Amazing.

Well, this is happening in about 2 wks time. Well, part of it anyway. I’ve hired a super-duper sports car and I’m taking one full day and two half-days to drive from LA to San Francisco stopping off at Santa Barbara and Monterey on the way. I’m sooooooooo looking forward to it! I’m already putting some playlists together for my ipod to play in the car during the journey!
with the exhusband. We drove down to California from Washington to go to Disneyland. It was one of the most breathtaking stretches of highway I have ever seen.
My wife and I recently lost our daughter and we are contemplating taking a quick PCH trip from S.D. or L.A. going north. We want to leave this Sunday (September 16th) and return Wednesday. Any suggestions? I’m wondering if I can make it up to S.F. or not in that amount of time.
