10 more to go 2 months ago

Used to I couldn’t even get to a mile and now I’m jogging for 20 minutes straight.. Getting closer.. 10 more minutes and I can call this goal done.. I also know I’m running over 2 miles which is a great feeling and accomplishment in itself.. I’ll get this one done in the next couple of weeks I think..

I finally met my goal today yay! I was not breathing too hard, either. I think, lung wise, I could have gone for longer. I don’t want to push my body too hard, though. The runner’s blogs all say to only increase speed/distance by 10% per week or you may risk injury.

I think on Monday I will be able to hit 30 minutes!

Gaining back my running endurance 5 months ago

I use to be able to run more than 45 minutes without stopping, but I stopped working out for awhile and now I am out of shape. I recently joined a new gym and I am ready to gain back my endurance!

    The Plan:
I started out with 10 minutes
    then 15
and just yesterday I did 20 minutes non-stop.

Soon I will increase it to 25
    then eventually 30.

I could have definitely gone longer. I full out ran the last 1/10 of a mile.

    24 minutes, 2.3 miles 5 months ago

This run was more difficult today. I really wasn’t looking forward to going and it was a struggle around the 15 minute mark. I tried to do a couple 1/2 block, full out runs, which winded me more. I’m hoping that will help increase my endurance.

I wasn’t even that winded when I got home. I feel like I could have gone for longer, but it was sprinkling and I needed to take my dogs out. It’s amazing how quickly my endurance has built up!

As usual, I became tired at about the six minute mark, but pushed through and was fine by the eight minute mark. I actually aimed for 24 minutes today, but underestimated the distance I was running, so had to tack on a couple extra minutes at the end. I think I definitely slowed a little during the last five minutes, but still, I am aiming for time, not distance at this point. I will continue to shoot for 24 this week for my other two full run days.

And I wasn’t gasping for air at the end. However, I ran mid-day and I was extremely hot

    21 minutes, 2 miles 5 months ago

I ran 3 minutes less, but at about a 10 mile/hour pace. Not bad. Maybe I need to take it a little bit slower so that I can increase my time. The last 10 minutes today were pretty hard and I’m more concerned at time than distance at this point
