When you drive your own car, it’s hard to ‘see’ how much that trip to the grocery just cost you, taking into account depreciation, wear & tear, fuel, and insurance. When I jump in a co-op car, I come out with a dollar figure at the end of my trip which includes every considered cost for that trip – depreciation, wear & tear, fuel, and insurance.
Instant feedback like this changes everything. All of a sudden, when all costs are considered, you might find that the ‘quick jaunt to the store to pick up some ketchup’ isn’t worth the price you pay.

I love it! Driving is such an active action for us now. Our insurance, our gas, our time is totally quantified for us when we drive. We are not polluting the environment with excess driving, but we have the ability to take large trips or get large items without worries about how it will be affected by public transit. I love CAN!
