My website is really great now. I have gotten lots of positive feedback on it. I still have more pictures to put up but that will be done next weekend. I also have work up on two on-line art sales sites and they are getting some attention but not as much as I would like. I think I need to beef up the profile or something. I love my work, it is all green, recycled, scavenged, I enjoy it so much.
So I am finally getting my website up to snuff. The one I have was thrown together rather quickly and this morning I am getting it “professionalized”. Yay !
I finally have my website up and functioning. This took me about two weeks of intense work with my web guy and it was worth it.
My work was well received at my show last weekend ! How exciting this was. I think that since I erased the conflict between selling my work and getting a job that I created a whole new space around my work as my livlihood.
So I got admittance to a good show in November and in June. My good friend did also and I need to get my own display panels since she will need them. I am using them for the show in July and my work looks FANTASTIC on them. This is a big expenditure – about $1000 – and I will need to begin saving now. I may be able to find some of the used.
So I am lined up to participate in a very good show in the Seattle area in July. I have a great booth, beautiful work, and a strong business consultant helping me. I am showing and selling my new work for the first time in an active sales environment. I hope this goes well. Then I have a group gallery show in August. I do not anticepate selling there but I do anticipate generating some interest in my work. There is hope. I also have another gallery possibility for September – better to have the work there than in my studio in boxes. And I am hopeful for a good show admittance in November.
I had a ball setting up my first showing in a little boutique in old town. A friend helped me and then I helped her set up her show in a store down the street. Unfortunately for both and all of us showing our work, it rained enough to discourage many visitors to the shows. But I did get some great feedback and I had a lot of fun so I will do this again. The work is there for a month and then I will need to find another alternate gallery.
Today I hung my new artwork for the first time in a local store that participates in our once a month art openings on the first Saturday of the month. I am very excited although I don’t expect to sell anything just because things are the way they are. But it is really fun to see my work hung up all over the walls of this store that has a very positive energy. Yay!!!!
CallMeHeather it's never too late...
Today I officially sold a piece of work to a stranger! I finally took part in our city’s public Art Walk downtown with some friends and a couple walked up and bought two tiny canvases I painted. :D I was really happy. They even asked if I had a card (humor me, it made my night) but I didn’t have one because I’m a newb :(
Anyways, I had a lot of fun (even though it was the coldest night of the year) and I got to meet someone who would like me and a few artist friends to sell some of our paintings in her office next month during Art Walk. It’ll look more professional and we’ll be protected from the freezing weather! So it looks like I made some headway, and now I just need to get some more paintings done!
