The whole experience was pretty great. Not just Comic Con, but also walking around Downtown with my friends when it was lunch time. 3 years ago

I went this year (2006) and it was a fantastic experience. One thing I might recommend, though, is that if you go try to go with a group of friends, or an organized group based on a common interest. The event is just too huge to easily meet and get to know new people. At least it was for me.
I did go with friends but the four of us each had diverse interests and didn’t spend much time together at the convention. Next year I’d like to meet up with some new people to explore some common interests and maybe discover some new ones.
Also, figure out a budget, and then bring double that amount. You’re always going to find something in the dealer room that you simply can’t pass up. Several somethings. 5 years ago
I might volunteer for CCI next year so I may actually get to go. :)

I went twice, and it was awesome. Only thing is, is that it seems to get bigger every year. Be prepared to push through crowds of people, and to camp out in front of your favorite panel. 5 years ago
As a sci-fi/comic convention goer for nearly 20 years, I would say this is the pick of the litter. Good luck getting into the “big rooms” when stars like Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale show up. Star factor aside, you’re likely to have more fun carousing through the dealers room and seeing how artists work. More than just a comic-con, SD Comic Con has become a Hollywood blockbuster preview magnet, a gaming con, a film festival, an art show, and naturally, a dealers ball. 5 years ago
