Erica He who laughs last didn't get it!
I love reading. I want to read more. Like everyday and for longer periods of time. I love recommendations.
Still way behind on my goal of getting through six books this summer. I have four to go and just the month of August left. But, I’ve tackled some really weighty ones right off the bat. Global epidemics and the legacy of racism aren’t exactly light summer reads.
Paradise is a wonderful novel, but like most of Toni Morrison’s work is very heavy. She has a way of taking you inside the head of her characters and feel their almost unbearable psychic and physical pain at times. And the language is dense, almost lyrical. It takes quite a bit of reader involvement, both emotionallly and intellectually.
Next up: Lipstick Jihad by Azadeh Moaveni.
by Laurie Garrett. I highly recommend it. Posted a review at All Consuming.
One down for the summer reading list 5 more to go.
I’ve started a summer reading list on All Consuming. Hopefully this will get me going. I have six books that I hope to finish by August 31.
