Patellar Dislocation et al  — 4 days ago

I dislocated my patella on April 26 (it looked like the picture, only the other leg). During the dislocation my leg was torqued, so it bent inwards and I tore my MCL, Medial Retinaculum, Patella Femoral Ligament, ACL, and discovered via the MRI that I have a degenerative tear in my meniscus.

I’m nearly 4 months post injury and am just now starting to feel comfortable without crutches most of the time.

I cannot wait until it is better. It is killing my soul that I cannot be active right now!

3 weeks, 108 degrees  — 5 days ago

Getting better! I started going back to my normal physical therapist, and he gave me more exercises to do. I like this place a lot better…everyone’s very nice and seems to love what they’re doing!

I got my leg all the way around on the bike today, and was even pedaling at a slow pace. Now I can start really working all the gunk out.

2 weeks, 90 degrees  — 1 week ago

Today is 2 weeks since surgery. I’m now allowed to start wandering around without crutches and drive a little. I think I’m starting to get a little stir crazy…I’ll be ready to go back to school soon.

I didn’t expect to get so DEPRESSED after surgery! It’s the weirdest thing. I would think that knowing that the only way to go is up would be an encouraging thought…oh well.

Time for my thrice-daily exercises. Maybe today I’ll venture a bus trip downtown and do a little shopping.

surgery  — 3 weeks ago

I had surgery this past Thursday, and my first PT appointment yesterday. Serious, serious pain…but it only gets better from here…

I injured my knee a few days ago. I most likely tore my ACL, which means surgery to repair it and (at least) 6 months of recovery.

The thought of not playing ultimate for that long is just about unbearable. But I’m determined to do what it takes to get back to my crazy running-around self again.

Rehab  — 11 months ago

I have been working with a very talented and knowledgeable physical trainer. He has helped me so much with range of motion and strength. If I had met him earlier, I most likely would have never hurt it in the first place.
