So it turns our the ocarina I was given is not a very good one. It is too airy on the high notes. So that means I get to shop for a new one! That is exciting because I can get exactly what I want. I think I will go for a 12 hole traverse (sweet potato).
I am learning a lot about the instrument on this forum I found. You should check it out if you are serious about learning this instrument:

So I was just given a 10 hole ocarina for my birthday. It is fun!
I wasn’t sure whether to make this goal “master the ocarina” or this. I went with this goal because it is something I can actually achieve in a reasonable amount of time, instead of this sitting on my list endlessly and growing stale.
Actually, I may have already achieved this because I can play many of the songs in my song book, up to the first 6 notes. But for clarity, I will define this goal as such:
1. Be able to play all the notes on the ocarina, including sharps and flats.
2. Be able to read sheet music and play accurately by sight, keeping tempo and not making many errors.
3. Be able to improvise so it sounds pleasing to others.
I’ve always loved woodwind instruments, but for some reason this one sticks out to me and I’d like to learn it.
lindornea is taking it easy after a week of too much stress
I have an ocarina that i bought from mountainocarina.com. I started playing it when I first got it, but it has been over a year now since I picked it up. I just need to follow through.
One of my dreams is to be able to play an instrument.
i want to learn how to play the five hole pendant ocarina (mine has a turtle on :D) using sheet music, so i can play more songs
Mooncinder has found her optimism again!
Been practising various different songs and tunes. For any anime fans out there, “Always With Me” (played during the end credits of the film “Spirited Away”) sounds particularly good on the ocarina. theocarinanetwork.com are very helpful with lots of sheet music and tabs to help you.
Tammy Price-Hoyle is moving forward
I bought an Ocarina at a Rennaissance Faire and I want to learn to play it. I’ve started learning a few things, but the hard part is finding time during the day to play..so I need to work that into my routine, at least a couple of times a week.
