I’m trying to finish it soon, I’m using the http://www.phpvideotutorials.com/ site to help me

As others before, i’m php/mysql developer, but never used objects in my programs….
Cake is not as easy as thought, but at least is as fast as promised
Got pretty good at PHP and MySQL over the last few years but my code is completely unstructured. I need a frameword to save writing everything from scratch every time.
I hope CakePHP will do for me. I’ve done a few tutorials but I’m finding the documentation lacking. It also seems very difficult to read, as everything is full of nested arrays.
I firstly want to know how can i run simple database table insertion value through cake php.
I guess you can say I know it as I’m maintaining a site in CakePHP. I haven’t built anything from scratch though.
I’ve tried getting into it a few times but normally get frustrated and go back to PHP & Smarty. I have a friend that uses cake for all his sites now, so maybe it is still worth learning?
With a list of other things to do which are much more time consuming and rewarding, I have taken defeat on this one. I am finding Python much more valuable to me in my daily life than php so Django is a more worthy framework to spend time learning
Even with a nifty library kit like Cake, I can’t bring myself to be profoundly interested in PHP. Perl, Ruby, Python, and even Lisp are more my speed.
