funniculee is dredging up old memories of past literary loves
Mainly because I have a car. But since my new place is within 20 min. walking distance of the main bus station (where every route stops/starts/ends), and since my car may quit on me at any moment, I’d like to do this more. The system leaves a lot to be desired, but there are routes that go pretty much wherever I would need to go (assuming I’m willing to walk to the central station, which I am).

It really isn’t that bad. In the afternoons it gets kind of rowdy but I just listen to my iPod.

It takes forever to get to where you want to go! If I had to commute to a job I think I would do it because the commuter buses are set up for fewer stops and I could read, which would be nice and would not be a big waste of my time. When I visit a big city I do use their metro system but in LA a car is just the best way to go, just don’t drive when all the other Knuckle-Heads are on the Freeway and it’s all good :D

It’s economical, it’s good for the environment, and plus I like having quiet time in the mornings before school.

And I have no problems with that at all! Frankly, I don’t care about having a car in the slightest. Life goes on and even in SoCal it’s perfectly manageable. The people who assume it can’t be done have never actually tried to do it—and so hurrah for the bus system indeed. Besides, being a UCI employee, my pass is free…
