It was a good run for the Cardinals. Dog earring the page, but turning it none the less. Time for me to change focus
I’ll follow the Hot Stove league activities. Maybe I’ll go to Winter Warm-Up. And the goal of going to spring training still attracts me.
I’ve yet to learn how to fill out a score card.

October!
The most exciting month in baseball! I’m hoping for a full October of play for the Cardinals.
The Wild Card playoff will be Oct. 5. Hopefully,the Cards will be playing the Braves. I’m scheduled to work that night, but I asked for a voluntary staff reduction, with a chance to get the night off. Otherwise, I’ll tivo it and watch it either way.
Currently, I’m reading “One Last Strike,” written by Tony La Russa, former manager of the Cardinals. Thirty well spent dollars and 3 hours in line, granted me a personally autographed copy and an opportunity to shake the former skippers hand. 7 months ago

I love the intricacies, strategies, emotions, the grind….
I love the discipline, teamwork, quirky influences….
I love the statistics, the scouting, A-AA-AAA ball, how huge a support system….
I love the history, the interviews, the men playing a boys game….
The money? It’s part of the fabric. It bothers me sometimes. Other times, it’s just part of the game.
My learning about baseball may be a lifetime endeavor. It’s one of my dreams to be a highly knowledgeable 80 year old, teaching my grandkids the beauty of this great American pastime. 8 months ago

So as I was sitting around one day, I got to thinking, “Maybe I should look into taking interest in sports, like all the normal people do.”
I decided that football was too vulgar, soccer too rare in America, and basketball, while an amazing choice, just not currently in my line of interest. Therefore, I decided baseball would be the most fun option.
So I guess, for this goal, I’m going to try to take an interest in MLB. Who knows? It could be fun. 16 months ago
