Whenever my boss comes back into town. I wish I had a better feeling about this, but I will try nonetheless.
toothshiner Setting life's goals, writing them down to review daily.
How I did it: I wrote out points to make in our discussion. Based on experience, tenure, value as an employee, requested that it be considered. Also stated that it was not something I expected an answer to that moment. FElt it was fair for my employer to have time to consider it. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I started out with, "Erin, can I tell you something that's been on my mind for awhile?"And I continued with, "I've been working here for two years. I have two years worth of experience and I feel as though I should not be making as much or less than a new hire."I was making minimum wage.I got a quarter raise...It's almost a slap in the face, but it's better than nothing.I'm sixteen. How I did it: I had a face-to-face conversation with my director about my future in the organization I work for. Also, with a fellow staff member leaving - I was destined to absorb more work, while we wait to rehire for the position (which will be down-sized).So....I asked, gave positive, helpful feedback on the situation and how to make it work for all of us.Bottom line: if I will be doing more work, taking on more responsibility - in volume and a high… Read how I did it…
How I did it: 1. I send an email to my boss first, list all the reason why I should be worth for a raise2. My boss talked with me. For he raised me half year before, he said it's not for the annual review now. But I explain the value I could bring to the company. He said he will consider my request3. Next day he talked to me again and said approved my request. And even more than my request. Read how I did it…

So I am just bracing myself. I have basically been promoted, taken on a lot more responsibility, skipped lunches and breaks, and yet have nothing to show for it as of right now. On top of that, the bosses made the announcement that they are not giving the standard raises this year, due to a suffering economy…So it’s time for me to grow a pair, and ask for what I need! Reviews are in February, so this SHOULD be accomplished soon!
I need to get a job first! But one day I hope to be good enough at said job to be able to demand more money for it!
In the ages which we lived. We have too much pressure.
Need to face the competition, need make our family happy and need to face the pressure that all the stuff never stop increase in price.
And the world is not fair. The same job in different company, the salary could have sooooo much difference!
I want to ask for a raise in the end of this month or the begin of Nov.
I finally talked to my boss about my salary. I was so angry, frustrated and nervous before but once I talked and listened, I was at peace.
The great part was that I could talk to him what I really felt, not the structured way everyone tells you to ask for a raise.
I NEED a raise. It’s been almost 9 months since I started working here and I DESERVE a generous raise. I’ve rejected an offer for almost 2x my salary (but without health care and other small benefits) from my former boss because I like it here.
The money is my only complaint here and that’s why I’m so nervous about asking for it. The office environment is great, I get along well with my project leader and learned and continue to learn a lot from him and by myself.
So, what if they don’t give me a raise, or not the amount I expect? It’ll change my perspective towards my job and changing jobs sucks.
I never had to ask for a raise because it was given according to my progress and performance at my former jobs. Trying to be positive, I’ll take this as a good opportunity to learn to negotiate while I’m still young.
I somehow pulled my boss aside and i said that it has been awhile scence i had gotton a raise and acted as if it was nothing ,, then i was surprised when i got more than i orginially asked for so, again people,, dont be afraid because you never know what you can get…I say go for it….

out of the blue, boss says i am good employee and told me when i get my license (i just need to do paperwork), he will ask for a raise for me.
this means, i need to get on another one of my goals. arf!

have not done this in my professional life. and even when i did it at crappy jobs, it was long overdue.
i will also ask for my own office (90% of my dept. has one). and i would negotiate that if need be.
i need to make a list of reasons why i deserve raise. that is step 1.
I got that raise I asked for in October. As of January 1. I hope it motivates me to focus better and get more work done (while I’m not thinking about what new job I want). There’s so much I could be doing rather than spacing out in front of the computer or wandering around the house wasting time. I could finance a master’s degree, given the flexible hours. I could put together an actual wardrobe. I could get a laptop and work wherever I want. I could give more to charity. I could buy books . . .
