to purge my closet. It’s overflowing. The dresser drawers are overflowing. It’s a jumble and a mess.

How I did it: However, I live in a variable climate. Some winter clothes I didn't wear because things were too cold. Other winters my super cold clothes don't get worn. So... things get tossed. The less you have to keep track of the better. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Tackled my closet one shelf at a time...filled one whole bag with all the stuff I don't wear/like/need anymore. Plan to give them away soon. Also realised that I don't fit into a LOT of my old clothes...and that I look plain ugly in some that still fit me :) ... Read how I did it…

How I did it: I just started at one end of my wardrobe and went through the clothes, tossing out stuff i haven't worn within 6 months, or are too small, or too big, or unflattering.Fair enough i don't have many clothes left but the clothes i do have now are clothes i enjoy wearing. How I did it: If it was faded, didn't fit perfectly, or wasn't a color I wear anymore - I pulled it out.It made me a bit anxious - what if I still want some of these things later? But it also made me happy, because I can now quickly see things I actually want to wear. Read how I did it…

I have a very small bedroom and a very small closet. The closet is overflowing, my dresser drawers are crammed, so I have to leave things folded up on top. Every time I try to dive in and purge, I find a reason to keep everything. But I hate the clutter and jumble and the fact that I can’t put everything away properly. I pledge to make another stab, looking for encouragement and/or any tips you have!
My closet is way too full. Too many clothes I never wear. However, when I look closely I see lots of impulse purchases and wasted money. Purchases made for all the wrong reasons. I need to get rid of all the clothes without guilt and start fresh with the things I do wear. Also, no more purchases for this coming season. I have enough. I feel guilty at the excess in my closet.
Cleaned out my closet – only to realise that I should go shopping soon!!! :)

I will do this goal very soon.
Don’t get me wrong i don’t have TOO many clothes, but the clothes i do have i don’t really love.
So, i am going to do this goal… and learn to love my closet!

I pulled out one full bag and one small bag worth of stuff to give to the cleaning ladies when they come today. That emptied one dresser drawer, and about 3” of linear closet rod space.
It’s a start.

I’ve got clothes and shoes that I do not wear; have not worn; do not fit; do not like… but are all “perfectly good”. I paid money to move them to this house – I do NOT need to pay money to move them to the next home when they have not been worn in more than 2 years.
These are items I’ve resisted donating to charity because there is still so much useful life in them; I’d rather give them to someone I know than an anonymous person. I need to get over that mentality and recognize that these items must go.
Target: clear a minimum of four linear feet of closet rod space and a minimum of 12 pairs of shoes by 1/10/09.

Well, I got through the purge part, but there are just some items that I cannot let go of. I’ve decided to box them up and hold them for 3 months. If I decide to keep them after 3 months, I will put them back. If not, they’re outta here!
For the most part, I have emptied out about half of my closets/drawers and freed up a ton of space. I have three garbage bags full to donate this weekend.
My next step is to tackle organizing & small repairs (hems, buttons, shoes that need to be polished…) The shoes are another story. Who can let go of their beloved shoes? I have so many that I can no longer wear because of my heel surgery, so I need to really take a harsh look at what I’m left with. It leaves a pit in my stomach.
I suppose there will be another purge soon. I still feel as though I won’t wear everything that I have kept. But there’s always that chance I need that sleeveless hoodie or the velvet tank for Christmas time.
The thing is, it is freaking cold here & I will not wear these while we’re here. We also do not have any formal functions to attend here like we used to. I will, however, need them if we move back. Decisions, decisions…
but adopting a new approach… i want to purge my entire apartment. so i’ve moved onto de-clutter!!!
time to tackle more than just the clothes hanging up.
