own a horse farm

Here I am daydreaming about the perfect barn/house combination… sigh. Of course we couldn’t afford such a thing so I’ve obsessively modified it to make the idea feasible and beautiful and we just need some savings and land!! Man, I can’t wait.

This will be a nice little collection of potential names for my horses.

- Aviusaura (Thanks to Miss Tee Z. for the idea, even if it was a mistake!)
- Mick (not too fancy, but then his name will be a Stones song and it will be great)

...especially for a college kid with little to no money to her name. But I understand that it is a far away goal, so that gives me plenty of time to plan the farm and the horses out fully. No detail will be left behind!

My little brother made the sweet suggestion that I start focusing all my efforts on getting a farm and building a home since that is the thing I have wanted the most for the longest. I simply appreciate that he remembers that. I might just put a couple dollars a month away for that since it may be a while before we know what locale we want to stay in. Brings back the pictures I had in mind when I was a kid and how they have been modified over the years but never ultimately changed. I simply can’t wait to have my own place. It would feel so safe for my horses and dogs.

My best friend is tempting me to go to new england (where she lives) by suggesting a cute little town with affordable real estate prices and lovely farm land… I found some job possibilities there too. We just don’t have enough saved to make a big move yet, but it’s a place to go check out for potential future farm purchase.

I have wanted this since I was a child, growing up on several horse farms. I want enough land for my 5 horses, and some gardening, space for me and my husband (one day kids) to express all our interests and hobbies. And to smell fresh cut grass in summer and have proper storage for horse blankets in winter. Something efficient and pretty. Not necessarily big.

Best to be specific, although this is more than just a horse farm. By 2013, I want to be rooted in a community and have enough acreage for three horses, plus any other self supporting livestock I might care to own (Possibly alpacas for their wool and chickens for their eggs). I don’t need to live in some executive empty “McMansion.” Deep down I have always been a country girl at heart. And I have always preferred cleaning a barn to a house.

This all needs to be located not far from a airport with international flights though. :)

I just want to be able to get up in the morning and walk outside and feed my horses and my sheep and my dogs. Maybe a pig.
