I was out late one night; I knew of a road I’d never been down that always looked interesting. But it was way over there and I was way over here. I knew that if I traveled a few miles West, I might be able to catch this side of it. What I didn’t know was that there were lakes in the way; which meant winding, spaghetti-like roads. Further-more there was no moon to align with. So I took a few strange turns and finally found myself lost in the same place twice. I did a U-turn and headed “back.”
At about this time I reflected on my strategy of ‘thinking & feeling’ my way around, and decided that at at least one point in this, I was gonna have to second-guess myself; as it was my “good feelings” that probably lead me wrong in the first place.
So at one road I almost drove past, I decided, “I don’t really like the looks of this road, but I’ll take it and see if I can get somewhere I would otherwise not get.” And after several miles, I found my way onto another road I knew.

You can’t really get lost when you’re with your best friend – it’s more like an adventure than feeling lost.

I saw an older guy yesterday using some pedal-power to power a machine that is usually moved by electricity. It got me thinking (agin?) how we never really think about where our power comes from, or just how powerful these new power-tools really are. How much are we losing as we grow to depend on external powers and power-tools? (Not only weak, but unhooked from our bodily knowledge as well.)

Edit: IDK if this would qualify as “wisdom,” but here it is:
I’d read a long time ago that when a person takes control of a machine, their brain automatically absorbs into its mental “body-image” the extra spacial physicality of that machine. In effect, we become more than just a “driver.”
This may be one reason that the number of large vehicles have inhabited the roads recently; “bigger” is perceived as being safer. We need that safety because we are lacking it more and more in our everyday lives.
In a related field, this may be why there are so many cars now with mirrored windows – a desire to find a little more privacy/safety.
This may also go into our uptight views on who’s runnin’ around being too sexual, (or too sexy); “stealing our thunder.” We are bothered by it bacuase of our inability to step-up and take on such a challenge to our own abilities and comfort.

She looked fairly lucid; especially for a girl her age, {don’t kow why that’s not more common – but I’m forming theories}. That was ten years ago. Now she, (& all of her fellow workers)... I have-yet to see a single smile out of any of them! I’m reminded of what the Frog-logic guy & Brené Brown says, (but they say it in different ways): Brene says that “you are enough” & David says to, “have a positive attitude.”
What that’s beginning to mean to me, is that “you matter.”
You, (yeah, “just ‘you’”), are more important than the knowledge or effort, or anything, you bring to the table!
So I go there & I’m watching them work – I watch their faces; their faces say “work,” “do this, then that.” The cashier leans out the drive-through, and even I start to interact all business-like, & almost forget to smile! So I smiled. I hope it helped.
I’d like to tell her about frog-logic & Brene. I’d like to think that spark’s still there in her. I’d like to tell her that she matters. (But would she be open to hearing that from me?)

When reflecting, who hasn’t said ‘if only I knew then what I know now?’
Well I’ve made a lot of mistakes throughout life and learnt from most of them.
I hope to pass on some of this wisdom to my children in the form of a book (not a dull memoir). Hopefully they can wise-up without the pain of mistakes. 14 months ago

decades & decades eek by like a slow, creaking train. The day by days & year by years of paying attention start adding up. “Add to this” that the old scabs & prejudices wear out & wear off – as long as they’re not continually renewed. Gradually, one starts seeing past the past. One starts to see even one’s self anew! Hahaha, perhaps one does not have to “grow old,” if one is being reborn this way; (how truly valuable is wisdom)?
I have outlived several of my contemporaries now, (& perhaps several more I don’t even know died; & what of the hundreds of people I’ve met on the road who left a good impression on me?) Some very nice people are gone.
Anway, I join this goal with two recent “realizations” on my mind. One is this:
An old Jewish saying, (maybe even old enough to be “Hebrew”). “If you have to get out of Dodge quick, and [you] have to choose btw. taking the books & taking the gold, take the books.” [paraphrased, obviously]
I’m thinking there’s more to that than meets the eye. Now it’s yours to think about.
