I just finished translation 2 John which is one of the shortest of not the shortest book of the Bible. Yes I know it was the easy way out but this goal has been around too long so I felt it had to get knocked out as soon as possible.

I just realized that it would make more sense to hold off on translating my way through Psalms until I’ve taken the Hebrew poetry class in the fall. So for the moment I’m working on Jonah. Why Jonah, because I came across a set of reading notes that goes verse by verse explaining uncommon words and verb forms. I still want to make my own translation of Psalms but I’ll make a different goal for it down the road.
Since learning Hebrew I’m really finding myself attracted to the book of Psalms. So I want to work my way through them in the original Hebrew and make my own translation of the Psalter.
On the last day of seminary Greek class, the professor recommended 1 John as a good starting point for personal reading/translation as its not only short but it is written in fairly simple and easy to understand making it an ideal starting point for someone who has just learned Greek.
