I knew absolutly nothing about Russia before I chose History as a subject for school, and now i know loads. Im really fascinated and intreiged. Me and my mates have this dream of going to Russia and visiting the museum which has Lenins embalmed body inside ^^ and learning about the other history. when ever we tell people of this dream, they have doubt and think were joking, but its funny, cause I know we’ll prove them wrong one day. :)
How to visit russia
How I did it: Dont get me wrong I love Russia, and it was great to go there. But people never smile, they always look unhappy. There is great wealth but greater poverty, when I was at the centre of Moscow (which is this square with a circle that you stand on to throw money over your shoulder to bring good luck. There were old women picking up 1 rouble; which cant basically buy you anything). Also its so expensive in Moscow, a glass of fresh orange juice cost about £8. And its corrupt, bribery is everywhere. Travel is very cheap, and so is alcohol and cigarretes. Apartment prices are about $2000-7000 a month.
Lessons & tips: Dont go alone.
Keep your belongings on you.
Keep your passport on you because police do spot checks.
Only buy Vodka from Supermarkets; or else it might kill you.
Dont take prostitutes to your hotel; because they will rob you.
Watch out for the stray dont because they are everywhere.
Make sure to take alot of money; because its the most expensive city in the world.

Russia is a mysterious and fascinating place. To avoid disillusionment, please, judge the Russians by their own criteria, not by ours. I only learned this after leaving, and wondering,”why is everyone so serious? Why does noone smile?” Here is a Russian proverb which afforded me insight… ‘Only a fool smiles all the time…” It’s not Europe, or America. Have no preconceeved notions, or expectations that they should behave or live as we do, or want them to .It’s their country. Do it their way, even if it seems odd or repellent to us. They can be very warm, and are fascinating people, with wonderful dignity
When you are a child they tell you hell is hot. They lied to you… Hell is driving in a car from moscow to tomsk in siberia. Okay have you ever driven through montana or south dakota… well think of this for 3000 miles… except snow swept landscapes with white birch trees. Oh yes where the Tartars and Bashkirs live it hard to find a bathroom.
I’ve lived in Russia until I was 7…and um, it’s ok. Moscow and St. Petersburg are most worthy of seeing! I miss Russia!!!
Russia is a mix of west and east. Great History. I know that the trip would be great and very fulfilling.
