I could write so much about my thoughts on this... 1 month ago

So I’ll try to avoid tangets. In any case, one particular thing I have been wondering recently is about the backward -> forward flow of time, the thing that makes the common clock tick from one to two and two to three, the thing that makes the sun rise in the east. But how can we ever really know that we are moving forward and not backward? We only live in one moment, and is it not possible that either all time exists already (future and past) or no time but the moment exists (that futre and past are merely concepts)?
All that we can define ourselves has to do with our memories and inclinations, and as we have memories of events that occurred in the past, we assume that we are gaining memories rather than losing them. Indeed, it is hard to imagine going backward in time at all.

Okay, I’m done now. Not that this affects anyone’s lives, but I just think it’s interesting to think about.

My Time Theories 3 years ago

A while ago I decided that time was relative. It speeds up and slows down. We just don’t notice this much because it happens to all of us at the same time. I have not yet figured out what makes it move at a different pace. Mostly, I think it could be the objects around us. But if you ask people at work if the day is going by fast or slow there will generaly be a consensus.

As far as the old debate of linear or circular time, I have to go with circular time. If you think of things in terms of cause and effect chain of events, there has to be something that caused everything that happened after it. This is termed The Final Cause in philosphy. But with a circular time, we could even conceive something from the end of the chain of events causing that first thing on the chain of events.

These are just some of my thoughts. I should put my disclaimer here that these are not scientificly based but more just philosphy and letting my mind wander.
