Next spring I’ll be visiting Cambodia! So excited!
How to visit cambodia
How I did it: Finally just booked the flights. Other commitments be damned. The other details fell into place. Was very much worth the trip and the experience. Cambodian people were lovely, fun and savvy.
Lessons & tips: The Cambodian airport has the 'visa on arrival' process efficiently honed to a fine art. Don't bother with embassies and queuing. It took less than five minutes total for us. Really. We timed it.

It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Well the urban parts probably weren’t beautiful by typical standards. I passed countless one-roomed, cramped houses. Still though, the friendliness and eagerness of the Khmer people was wonderful. They were so open to my company. I loved playing pick up soccer games or letting little kids play with my camera. In Battambang, we saw a circus performance put on by an orphanage. The kids were spectacular performers! I felt sick in Siem Reap. We stayed in this ridiculously nice hotel—far better than hotels you find in America. However, right next door were these little hovels. I felt excessive and greedy, but it inspired me to live more simply at home. It was a great experience. Go if you get the chance!

My photo class is taking a trip to Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand. I’m absolutely excited! The landscape seems so beautiful as does the culture.
I’ve seen a trip with Bunac.com to Siem Reap in Cambodia to spend 16 weeks working with an orphanage and school. After that I’d like to travel around the country. Well, thats the plan. I wonder if I’ll manage it.
A beautiful place, still working hard to overcome a tragic history and troubled present, but with much hope for the future.
Wonderful people, food, sites. Angkor! Sihanoukville! Phnom Penn! Just thinking about it makes me want to go back again.
i’m actually half cambodian. my dad was born and raised in cambodia. he’s been back home once since he came to the states. i’ve never been. i’m hoping to make the trip happen within the next 1-2 yrs. and it’ll be grand. i’m pretty sure i’m going to cry at first sight of angkor wat.
