Yuki showed up on my porch a few hours ago, when it was still light out. She was sniffing around where I had left the food. I had just removed it earlier because it was soggy from rain. I was going to replace it with fresh food later. If the food was out there, it would have distracted her long enough to let me grab her. I opened the door to the porch, and she got scared and ran across the yard. I chased after her without shoes on. I followed her to the bushes by the side of the river that runs behind my house. I could see her in the thicket, and I called to her. She cried every time I called her name. Then, she stepped around some bushes and I lost sight of her. I went back to the house and got my mom, and we both went back to where I saw her last. We called her, but she wouldn’t answer. We went back to the house and set up the cat carrier with a pillow and a towel, and put food and milk inside for her. I hope she’ll come back tonight. If she does, I’ll see her through the window, so hopefully I can sneak up on her and close the cat carrier door, then bring her in the house. I’m glad she’s alive and safe.
How to find my lost cat :(
How I did it: I left our cat carrier outside with a pillow with a towel on top inside it, and also a bowl of cat food. I left it on our porch right outside a window next to our computer, which I use a lot during the day, so that I was likely to see her. Earlier this evening, I spotter her eating the food inside the carrier, and I went outside. I meant to sneak up on her and close her in the carrier, and then bring it back to the house, but by the time I got outside she had already started to leave. Then, my parents and I stood out on the porch and called her. After a few minutes, she came over to us, crying. My Dad then scooped her up and carried her back inside.
Lessons & tips: If possible, try walking around on a few streets near your house, and
walking back again to help them pick up your scent and find home easier. Put up "lost" posters, with a clear, color picture, as big as possible of your cat. Make sure to put your phone number and / or address. Also make sure to include on the poster any personality traits that you think might help other people recognize and catch your cat. For instance, skittishness, aggressiveness, etc. Also, make sure to include what names or nicknames the cat answers to.
If possible, leave your windows open, so the smell of your home is easier to track for your cat.
Put a bowl of food and water each outside, in front of a window that you are near a lot of the time. If you have a cat carrier, leave that outside with a pillow, towel,
and food inside it, to lure them in. If you can, sneak up on them and
close the door to the carrier while he or she is inside it eating,
drinking, or sleeping.
Keep checking the spot for your pet. When you see him/her, approach them quietly, so as not to scare them away. Then call the cat over in the way you think is best to get them to come over. If your cat has a favorite person, get them to call over the cat, and search for them.

A woman told us she saw Yuki up by a road close to us…she said she was heading into the woods by the side of the road. We looked all over, but we didn’t see her. I saw bones of some kind in the woods, which made me really nervous, plus it was getting dark, so I had to go home. At least I know she’s still alive, and she’s okay. Hopefully she’ll find her way back home.
We recently had weather stripping put on our doorways in the kitchen and the family room entrances to the house. This resulted in the doors swinging open by themselves if we didn’t close them tight enough. I was away, staying at a friend’s house, and my mom told me over the phone that she couldn’t find Yuki, one of our cats. Nobody has seen her since last friday, and I haven’t seen her in even longer, since I was away. My friend Sarah and I put up a few fliers today with her picture and our phone number. I keep looking outside for her, because she might return to the house. I left the windows open, because I thought she might smell the familiar smells of the house and come back. So far no luck. I keep hearing these birds, which sound very much like Yuki crying from a distance. Those stupid birds get my hopes up. I wish they would shut up. I won’t give up hope, because one of our old cats was missing for six months, and he came back. I really hope we find her, and that she’s safe and sound. I miss my pookie.
Dondy154 is back after a long hiatus. But will she stay?
A few days ago my long haired black cat fell off the porch. He is so shy that if you call him he bolts. This is not the first time he has gone missing. Twice before he got out and we caught him using a live capture trap. So this time I thought it would be routine and went out and rented the trap from the Animal Rescue League.
So far either I have caught five raccoons or the same dumb raccoon five times…
Last night I pitched a tent in the backyard and lay awake there until two thirty when he finally ventured into the tent and I nabbed him.
He is now safe at home.
I am so happy!!
I borrowed a live trap from a friend, and put it at the bottom of the stairs, put some of her food around and in it and after a few days I caught her!
She’s doing well, and happy to be home
Alexandra is home from work.
After missing for almost a week, we had given up hope. Today he came back, and although he has lost a visible amount of weight, he is pretty much okay. I hope that others will be able to find thier little guy or gal as soon as possible.
My kitty ran off a few days ago. I’ve done everything I can think of, talked to neighbors, put up fliers, placed cat food outside. I even put her little bed outside by the door. I’ll increase the number of fliers around the neighborhood and go to nearby vets too. If anyone has any other suggestions to help me out, I’d appreciate it.
thank the lord on high, nezzetto is back. he’s a little skinnier and has been hiding under my bed all day, but i’m just so thankful he’s returned.
turns out, he was only a few streets down. we have a legitimate cat lady down the street who set up a cat trap in my neighbor’s yard where he was frequently seen. less than an hour later, he was caught.
!!!!! i’m so happy.
it’s been fifteen days, and we finally got our first phone call from someone a few streets down. they said that the cat had disappeared just moments before we arrived. though i’ve lost been disappointed by false sightings before, i feel like this is him: why would a huge, buff, fluffy cat with a black collar suddenly appear in someone’s backyard and hang around there for three days if it wasn’t him?
also, i’ve decided that if we do get the cat back, i will not change his name to aslan. i will keep him with his given name, nezzetto. it wouldn’t be fair at this point.
my teacher is moving away and needed someone to take her cats, so i adopted one. he arrived yesterday afternoon and this morning was gone. i am so terrified. we’ve made flyers, scoured the woods, put food on the doorstep, called the animal police. i’m terrified and i don’t know what to do.
please come home aslan!!
