ElleLyzette writing fingers off before deadline of Nov. 30th.
Went on a school field trip to the Lost City Museum in Overton, NV. The museum houses an extensive collection of Virgin Anasazi artifacts. Built on a ruin of an actual Virgin Anasazi pueblo, the museum has a reconstruction of what that pueblo may have looked like many centuries ago.
I found the “Pit House” fascinating, as it was an actual home built underground with a log “staircase” in which to descend into it.
It was a crazy time to try and read all the information with a bunch of kids trying to answer questions on the worksheet provided for them to fill out, so I have no doubt there was much more to learn given time enough to process all the information.
An inexpensive, nice day trip when combined with a drive through Valley of Fire for a quiet picnic and sightseeing.
Bon Voyage,
Elle Lyzette

Sure, it’s a three hour trek to the nearest museum… but hey. My culturometer is getting awfully low.
Favorite museums, as of yet:
Boston’s MOFA and Museum of Science
London’s “British Museum” (that can’t be its real name, can it?) and Natural History Museum
Any suggestions?

I went to an Anthropology museum last week! It was pretty cool! I’d gone as a kid but didn’t really remember it too much. I want to go to a science or children’s museum soon. :D

I went to see the Temples and Tombs exhibit at the Albuquerque Museum yesterday with a friend of mine and the kids. It was nice to see the ancient egyptian art without having to travel several hundred miles to do so. And it was only $4 to get in so it was a nice, cheap activity to enjoy with the kids.

My husband and I used to go to a museum almost every other week, it’s been a while, I think we’ll start up again.

I guess my boyfriends bank is doing this thing where you and a guest can get into museums for free during the month of May. This is great! Once the semester ends we have 2 weeks to hit them all up for free!

This is one of those things I never think to do when I’m bored or when I make plans. A lot of times I’ll be hanging out with my boyfriend and we feel like there’s nothing to do except go out to eat. It’s evens omething you can do year-round, except it will be easier in the summer since we’ll have more free time during museum hours. I’ve actually needed to go to the art museum for an assignment since the beginning of the semester but I haven’t gotten the chance between school and work.

I am surprised how few people have listed this as a goal.
Personally I love visiting museums and exhibitions. Yet out of the thousands (millions?) of people on this site, only 7 have listed this as a goal? Perhaps there’s another goal related to museum visits that generated more interest? I’m just surprised I guess…
