"Change the way you see the world."

How I did it: While I was studying to get my Bachelor's in English, I took several classes in film.  In fact, my minor ended up being in Film Studies when I graduated.  The first step is an obvious one: sign up for the class.  Any class is great, but an introductory one teaches you the basic things you need to know about film history, film criticism, and film viewing.  Doing this will change the way you see movies forever, and it will inevitably make moviegoing a more enriching experience for you.

Lessons & tips: Don't sign up for a film class thinking it will be easy, because you get to watch movies.  This is not the point of a film class, it's just an added perk.  Film classes are just like English classes; you get to do something fun, but you have to think critically and analyze the work you're being asked to look at.

    I’m currently attending a liberal arts college, but I’m finding myself wondering more and more if I’ll be able to get where I want to go from here.

    I’m okay with being here now. I’m learning how to think, and how to exist. More about myself than I’ve ever imagined, and more about possibilities that I didn’t know exited. But eventually, I want to do something with camera. I ache sometimes for visual expression, and it’s something I’ve realized I can’t deny myself.

    A flim class.

    Maybe some day a film school.
