How I did it: I had originally decided to have some stars with a rainbow on my inner arm, but I also had the idea for a lily, but hadn't found the right design. I went to my local artist, and saw his selection of lillies and with a little messing about, he made it perfect for me. I couldn't not have it then! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I got my latest tattoo last summer for around $100 dollars. I saved a bit, found a reputable establishment, changed my plans about what to get a couple times, obsessed about fonts, then scheduled the appointment. Read how I did it…

I have identified what I want it to be, and I know where on my body I want it – I just have to find a convenient time period in which to have it.
My last tattoo has just finished healing, and I’d like to get in a few swimming sessions before I go under the needle again and limit myself to not being able to swim.

huh, what?? This was automatically kicked to “failed”, just because I wasn’t here on the 31st to defend myself?
That sucks.
Okay. No. I do not have my 2nd tattoo yet. BUT, I am on the long list to see the guy I really wanted, and I did get that done well before the end of the month. A girl can only do so much (okay, I could have gone in earlier, but this fellow’s wait list is so long that it wouldn’t have helped with this time frame) and I’m not about to get some random person to do this just to meet a poorly thought out deadline.
So, technically, I sort of failed this challenge. But, technically, I’ve already ignored the consequences I set for myself too.
hm. Maybe I should add building will power, self control or finding a sense of honour to my list of 43 things? heh…

I made it into the tattoo shop today to finally talk to someone about what I want done. She decided that she really wanted one particular artist to deal with my piece – and it’s the person I wanted!
But, he’s not taking on any new clients as he’s booked through the fall. With his permission, though, I am now on his (long) cancellation list. I could get called in at any time and hope that he’s drawn up something I like!

I’ve been mentioning to people that I’m thinking of getting another tattoo. Now, I’m mentioning that I’ll be going in to discuss it with someone next Friday.
That makes it so much more likely to happen.
Someone might call me on it: so, how’d your visit with the tattoo guy go? and I’d have to have an answer.
I’ll have the time next Friday. I have the basic concept. I just have to go and start the conversation. And, as long as I get my butt out of bed that morning, we should be just fine.

Well, it is done.
2 hours with Chin at Redskin on Bangor High Street. Who’d have thought my sleepy little uni town would have a nice studio? My right arm is horribly swollen at the moment. It didn’t appreciate the needling. it’s not infected, though, just grumpy. ice and bepanthan are sorting it out.
No real photo yet, as it won’t look nice until it’s back in proportion!

I know – approximately – what I want. I know I can’t get any further until I speak with the artist who will do the tattoo. I know where I want it done and I know the staff members whose work I like.
So, what’s stopping me? Time.
And that’s a sad-assed excuse. I literally have to get in the car, go over and walk in. Look through a few more photos and chat. I could even phone in advance.
It’s NOT THAT DIFFICULT.
I love tattoos. I love original ones, I love the idea of art you can wear, I love looking at other people’s tattoos. (Except those people who randomly approach me when they see I have tattoos and insist on telling me the story of each one of their tattoos while showing me every painful detail in location) I wouldn’t say I have an “unhealthy” obsession with them or anything, but I really think they’re neat. I have one set – leopard print that I got done this year – and Green Day on the back of my neck. (Oh the decisions we make when we’re 18 & full of money) I have a couple of ideas of tattoos I’d like. I like the idea of the statue of liberty VERY much, but I’m not sure. This is at least a goal I can achieve without much attempt!
I want a parrot. I imagine a macaw-type with outstretched wings that wrap around my leg. Macaw wings might look good on my back instead, although an existing wolf tattoo would be covered up. I’m undecided.
