Transition 14 months ago

It took me several months to convince myself to eat meat again. This is not necessarily a permanent life change – I really just want to try it and see how I feel. I’m experimenting to see what my body wants. I’ve been craving protein for awhile now, and large amounts of soy make me feel icky and I’ve been reading that it’s not good to eat fish all the time. It had gotten to the point where I would walk by a cafe and smell the meat cooking and start drooling, and this from someone who hasn’t even had a taste in 16 years!

I’m most likely never going to be the kind of person who can sit down and eat a burger, or a giant steak, or lamb. Who knows though? I’m taking baby steps, starting off with a little chicken and going from there. Right now, my main concern is that I’m getting only organic, free-range, hormone-free meat from farms with sustainable practices. If I’m going to be a carnivore, I’m going to do this as ethically as possible!

I’ll update on how I’m feeling after a month or so.

Eww 16 months ago

So, I went looking into this meat-eating business, and in the process managed to totally gross myself out. I don’t know if I’m going to ever be able to do this, so I’m going to give up for now. I need to think more about it, or maybe figure out how to NOT think about it.

An odd goal to have on here... 17 months ago

I haven’t eaten meat in over 15 years. Recently, I’ve begun eating fish again for the first time, and all of the sudden I’ve started to feel so much healthier. It’s weird because I didn’t necessarily think that anything was wrong with me, but I was tired a lot and had pretty low energy. After I eat some fish I almost feel high because I feel so good. It’s gotten me thinking a lot about my diet these days.

This is really just going to be a little experiment to see if I feel even better as a full-fledged omnivore. I have this problem where I over-think my meal choices, so it’s going to be very hard for me to bite into a piece of meat and not picture it in its original form. I’m planning about being as vigilant as possible about choosing grass fed, organic, free-range, and blah blah blah all that good stuff. I want to know exactly where what I put in my mouth is coming from.

This is not necessarily a permanent lifestyle choice (I don’t know if my over-active brain will let me do this for very long), but I’m interested to see what happens.

i’m not going to front and say vegetarian.

haha
i can’t stop picturing cute turkies and chickens when i eat my sandwich though.

cuz God knows that i’ll never put cow/pig meat in my mouth again.

I ate a delicious, juicy steak last night after a year and a half of being a vegetarian.
I really didn’t have any problem morally with eating meat; life exists because it steals life (unless you can photosynthesize, which I, unfortunately, can not).
I decided I’ll eat meat on occasion, as long as it is natural and organic and free-range, because that is what I really care about: eating naturally and not having the animal suffer.

yeah i’ve always eaten meat. i’m not so much a vegetarian cuz i dont care to eat vegetables but my dad’s a hunter/farmer so i eat my vegetables (corn mostly) and love cheeseburgers and deer roast and pig and chicken and cow and it can go on and on

I’m vegetarian and have no energy and am often depressed and physically chilly, even when it’s warm to other people. My mother thinks it’s because of being veggie. She says to try meat. I want to but it’s heavy and disgusting. Shrimp are about as meat as I can go. I wonder if eating beef and chicken would give me more heat and power? But beef and chicken, pork and turkey are fish are so… gross… what do I do…
