In the mornings I’ve been making super smoothies and I make a note to take my Omega-3 and my mineral pill with it. When I do this for 1 month straight (October 1st), I will consider this “done”.
How I did it: I bought a big bottle of each Omega-3 capsules and multi-vitamins and kept them in my room right next to my desk so I see them every day. I got into the habit of drinking two cups of water in the morning with my pills along with breakfast (usually a protein smoothie).
I stopped drinking pop and juice most of the time, instead forcing myself to drink tea or water at work because that's all that is available.
Lessons & tips: If you have trouble swallowing big capsules, then try chewing a big bite of food (like a piece of bread or eggs) and then sticking the pill inside the bolus (that ball of chewed food) before you swallow it. You'll barely notice it's there.
Resources: Omega-3 pills
Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc pills
Vitamin C (chewables, guilty)
Vitamin D (pills or from the sun!)

I was wondering why it was so difficult to drink 8 full glasses of water per day, until I finally got out my measuring cup…. turns out that one of my “full glasses” is actually TWO cups of water. I was trying to drink an entire gallon of water every day!! Now 4 glasses seems much more reasonable.

Considering how much water it takes me to swallow a couple of multivitamins, I think getting in 2L in a day should be easy. Unfortunately, it also makes me have to pee all the damn time.
muffcity can't keep up with all i've really done so far...
I always feel better when I drink water & take my vits:
selnium
vit E
niacin
women’s multi
vit B complex
biotin
vit C +
fish oil, and herbs:
psyllium
ginseng
milk thistle
daily, and sometimes
cinnamon
pomegranate
I am low in iron, so my specialist recommended I get some iron tablets. I asked at the pharmacist’s and he replied with “why do you want them?”, which I thought was bizarre since anyone can buy iron tablets and since I am 8 months pregnant it should be obvious.
Next he recommended some with folic acid in them too. I asked for some without folic acid, as I already get a big dose of that in my vitamin. He told me it wouldn’t be in my vitamin. I told him it was, as it was a prenatal vitamin and folic acid is the only vitamin shown to benefit pregnant women. AND if I took my vitamin and the iron tablet he was suggesting I would exceed the recommended dose. He didn’t say anything and obviously had no idea about anything so I bought the only ones he told me about and now can’t take my vitamins.
grrrrrrr…..
For two reasons:
1. I am pregnant and almost fainted once a couple of weeks ago (very embaressing!), which I think was due to low blood pressure and therefore wouldn’t have happened if I was more hydrated. It was on a day that I was in the lab alot (can’t drink in there) so it takes more of an effort than just having a big bottle of H20 on your desk.
2. Vitamins haven’t been shown to be beneficial when your pregnant (except for folic acid, which I had). I eat a balanced diet, but want a bit of extra help now that I am in the final three months.
