I can see clearly now!!!! 20 months ago

I did it! It has been a week since the surgery and it is absolutely amazing! I was a bit scared going in but it turned out to be not that bad. The only freaky thing is being able to see what they are doing and trying to keep your eye fairly still. I am sooooooo glad I did it.

My advise – Shop around. Find a surgeon and surgery that you are very happy with, even if it means paying a bit more. This is your EYES and your SIGHT we are talking about!

This Friday! 21 months ago

I have seen the specialist and am booked in for this Friday to have the surgery!!! Yeah for me!!!

On my way..... 21 months ago

I have picked a surgeon and am off to see him on the 3rd March (about a week!). If I am suitable for the surgery then they can fit me in early May!! Yeah for me!! :)

Do more research in January 23 months ago

I’ve wanted to have laser eye surgery for awhile now. My eye doctor told me that my lens prescription needs to stay the same for three consecutive years before I would be evaluated. It’s been about that. I may look into this more in January.

No go 2 years ago

Apparently, I have large pupils. Makes sense I guess, since I’m pretty light sensitive. The risks outweigh the benefits for me…not gonna do it.

Ok so you’re not supposed to wear your contacts at all while you’re waiting to get this surgery. I had a couple of times for just a few hours at a time because I figured it was no big deal as long as it wasn’t constant. Well I was reading about the surgery the other day and apparently contacts can change the shape of your cornea and they do very specific measurements before the surgery…so now I’m all worried like. What if I jack it up by cheating? Ack!

Take advantage... 2 years ago

I’m in the military and can have it done for free. The only thing I’ll have to pay for is travel to the hospital that performs it—I think the closest one to me is in Colorado Springs. I’ve been putting this off because we have to leave our contacts out for 30 days just to be considered! I’m on, what, day 5 now? My eyes were hurting earlier this week so I left the contacts out and started wearing the glasses. It hurts my eyes driving because of the sun, but I’m tough. Hopefully I have the will not to put the contacts back in. For too long anyways!

1st post. 2 years ago

I’ve been thinking about having lazer surgery for some time.
I saw one of my students on this site and was told sternley that thinking about things doesnt make them happen.
Absolutley correct, so here I am and this is my first thing.
I have researched and decided upon lasik surgery, due to the type of eye correction needed, I’ve even been saving up my pennies (its not cheap), my next step is to find my nearest clinic, go for a consultation then do it. Sounds easy eh?

I might not do this after all 2 years ago

I’ve recently been reading about The Bates Method – which is a natural way of improving eyesight. It is a fascinating concept – that our eye muscles are overworked, and that we need to re-learn how to use them properly. Glasses, then, are just like a band-aid – a way to merely treat the symptoms, rather than actually cure the problem. The only problem is that this band-aid is a multi-billion dollar industry. Think what would happen to millions of jobs if it were actually true that just by learning to relax our eye muscles, we would no longer need glasses or surgury! We could put a serious dent in the economy.

It’s tempting enough of a prospect for me to at least try, however. After all, if it doesn’t work, my eyesight will just continue to slowly deteriorate – like it has been doing for the last several decades. If it does work – who knows!

I plan to travel 2 years ago

and I don’t like wearing glasses and having to hastle with contacts while sleeping who knows where would not be fun. My grandfolks left me some money when they passed and I have been thinking about using some of it for the laser. I am a bit freaked about the idea of them messing with one of the most sensitive parts of my body. I haven’t heard any horror stories yet, though…
