Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

I saw Rent today at the Nederlander in NYC. It was unbe-freakin-lievable. Definitely one of the most awesome experiences of my whole life! 6 years ago

ballerinadreamsaugust 15th, 2008

and it was AMAZING beyond words! Went with my husband and friend Mari (who put me onto this musical). it’s the happiest-saddest musical ever.. and you can’t help but love the characters, or want to be one of them! so worth every penny.

we had awesome seats… 6 rows back. thanks to moi! it’s a shame it’s ending in september. since i’m five minutes from NYC, no harm in watching it again before it all ends… ::sings:: LA VIE BOHEME!!6 years ago

We ordered the tickets this morning! YAY! I’m really going! August 23rd, 2:00 pm! 6 years ago

Buying the tickets TOMORROW hopefully! 6 years ago

KateWe're Going!

I asked my mom for tickets to see Rent for my birthday. This is the email that I got in response:

“I talked to Marie and Larry today – they saw Rent on Broadway, and thought it was the worst show they ever saw, but realize it has been a big hit with younger people, which is why it has lasted 10 years on Broadway. Do you know what it is about? Larry said it is very dark and that the characters are all homeless, living in New York, living promiscuous lifestyles, cheating on each other, and they all end up with AIDS! The only familiar song is: Seasons of Love. So, that’s from people who see ALL the shows!”

So… clearly my mom needs to learn to think for herself. But anyway, that’s not the point.

The point is: another intern with whom I work is as big a Rent fan as I am…and she’s from NY – so we’re going at the end of August! Yay!!!! 6 years ago

Patti406I SAW IT TODAY!!!

I’ve wanted to see Rent since 10 years ago when my sister saw it and brought home the cd. I knew the cd by heart but never could afford to see it. Finally, after a long adventure into New York City, I saw it and it was even better than I could have imagined! It was three times better than the movie version. I cried my eyes out through the last act. I know it sounds like a small dream, but today one of my dreams came true!!! 6 years ago

I am pretty bummed out that it doesn’t look like this will be happening anytime soon. The last show is in September and I doubt I’ll be able to afford tickets :( 6 years ago

apajax6Forget Regret

I did get the opportunity to see Rent on Broadway. My sister and I went when Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp reprieved their rolls as Roger and Mark, respectively. It was one of the most magical experiences. Their on stage chemistry is unlike any other. They are going to be going on tour with Rent next year, and I hope to see them again. 6 years ago

This was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. I knew I loved this play but really, seeing it in New York with Anthony Rapp and Adam Paschal playing Mark and Roger was something I will never forget. Save your money, be brave, and go and do this. You won’t be sorry 7 years ago

renthead883musical=1000000000000000x better than movie

I saw the show twice before I saw the movie the day it came out, and I’m not going to lie- i was extremely dissapointed with the movie. I personally think it could have been done better, but thats my opinion. I’ve seen the show 4 times now and I’m going back in january! 8 years ago
