Cansu is getting back on track.
Well, I know, what I aimed for yesterday, but still better than the day before.
I want to get up by 07.45 the latest tomorrow morning and guess what, I’ll go to bed early tonight!!
How I did it: My daughter started kindergarten and I had a mid-morning class as well (that's what keeps me from going back to sleep after I drop her off at school!). I can't get up early if I don't have a logical reason to zombie-walk around all day sleep deprived, but if I have something I must do then I know I must get up and get my body started. Before, I tried committing myself to a gym class but I knew that there was no immediate consequence for my absence and therefore I didn't make myself get up. College classes are different...kindergarten is different. Although it's hard to drag myself out of bed, I still do because there's no other option.
One thing I found particularly helpful:
I always get up to the alarm on my cell phone. For 3 weeks before school began I tried to wake up to the usual alarm song and for 3 weeks I pressed the snooze button on it until it eventually just gave up on me. My brain got to where that song did nothing but annoy me and barely disrupt my sleep, I didn't associate it with waking. Easy solution: Change your alarm noise to something that does not startle you, but is also cheerful and you can associate with waking.
Lessons & tips:
Resources: Ringtone "melodic" that's pre-programmed into some phones is what I wake up to. It's cheerful but not startling.

I used to go to school, and wake up by 05.30 most of the time while I did that. My school bus was picking me up by 07.15, so I had plenty of time to relax in the morning, spend some time for myself, get ready in no rush and catch the bus.
The school has ended on the 30th of April and since then, the earliest I wake up is 08.00, which makes me hate myself most of the time.
I need to get my schedule back, as I enjoy tidying up the house early in the morning, being done with it all and going to the swimming pool, by 09.00 the latest.
But for that, I should learn how to go to bed early, but well, I’ll set up my alarm clock back to 07.00 tomorrow morning. Setting it 5 minutes earlier everyday should make it easier for me, right?

I’m awful at mornings. I think it’s because I don’t have a huge commute (30 minute walk or 15 on bus) so I don’t have a train I have to catch. I have to be at work at 9, but I can sleep in till 8 and get there on time so I tend to press snooze and then have to rush my morning. I would love to get up as soon as I wake up (during the week) and only have a lie-in on weekends. I could then have a relaxed breakfast, walk to work, and possibly change my working hours to 8.30am – 4.30pm giving me more evening time.

Today wasn’t the best day to wake up early. I woke up at 9.30 am and I wasn’t happy about being that late in the beginning. But then I noticed that we didn’t have any bread at home and the nearest shop will possibly open at 10.00 am. I spent 30 more minutes in bed…
My fault was to think that way, cuz I found out later on that it opens the door at 8.00 am!
Hope to do better tomorrow!

Well, I was mostly awake at 9 o’clock in the morning, which still counts as morning…
Though, there were times where I slept till 11 o’clock, but they weren’t as often as I woke up earlier than 9 am….
And the most beautiful thing about waking up early is that I was happy about it! I also felt sad if I slept longer, cuz I felt like morning was the most meaningful time of the day!
So I guess I’ve done that!
I’ll just keep it on my list for a while to see what I’ll do this week…
