How to visit the Louvre Museum
It made me 
"We went to Paris in March 2009 as my birthday gift from my fiance. It was lovely."
How I did it: We rented a flat just a block away from the Louvre. On Sundays and after a certain hour on Thursdays/Fridays it is free entry... so it's well worth going after an early dinner. Two days is the minimum if you want to see all the good stuff like the Royal Suites, Greek and Roman, Egyptian, Great Master Paintings, Venus De Milo, Mona Lisa etc... For an internationally renown museum the food and gift shops are disappointing, but there is a Starbucks inside and some great cafes nearby. Also, after April each year the Tuileries Gardens in front of the Louvre are spectacular!

I much preferred the Musee d’Orsay. But I do remember being able to enjoy some beautiful paintings by Raphael whilst the crowds swarmed around the Mona Lisa!

The Louvre is fantastic! But for all of you who want to do this I would deffinitly plan to do more than one day. One is not even close to enough. You need at least two or three. I only had one day and I wish I had known to plan for two days instead.

Although it was hot and smelly because of all the tourists it was my favorite part of Paris. I only wish I could have tolerated the crowds a little longer and gone to the Itallian sculptures wing. We were lucky enough to have planned our trip when we did. The first Sunday of every month all museums in France are free! So instead of paying a seprate price to see seprate wings we paid nothing and saw as many as we liked! I simply cannot wait to go back!

It will take you a few days but its worth it! I recomend (ick! sp sorry!) getting away from the Mona Lisa wing because there are SO many people.. if you get a chance take a few days
oh and kids under 18 are free!
