Date... just for the fun of it

Enough at least that I don’t want it on my list anymore. Plus, Flirt’s ‘date smarter’ goal makes much more sense… not that I’m actually doing that at the moment… hee hee hee!

... with my new friend from the DTT… however, I’ve just realised that I’ve previously referred to someone else as ‘my new friend’, so to save confusion I shall refer to him as CG (Cycling Guy). I had a lovely time… we went to see a show at the comedy festival, followed by dinner and then dessert (Imoeris, guess where we went…).

It’s kind of a bit weird though… he seems very keen, whereas I’m just not ready for that yet. I do think he’s lovely, and enjoy his company… but I’ve explained my situation to him, and that I can only do this as friends. There were a few times that I’ve had to remind him about this (it probably doesn’t help that things got a little carried away on the DTT)... unfortunately, I don’t react well to being pushed into things, and if I end up feelng uncomfortable, I’ll just have to say ‘no more’.

Question: Is it appropriate to say that you’re going on a date with a friend? Or does ‘date’ automatically imply a deeper interest?

Anyhoo, I went out on the date this evening, and had a great time… we met up for a drink at a bar a couple of suburbs away. My new friend was good company, and we chatted all evening… finally had to call it to an end at about midnight. He’s a really interesting guy, and I’ll think we’ll catch up again sometime soon :-D

With the exception of going to the movies a couple of times when I was 15 or 16, my only experiences with dating have been as the beginning of my relationships.

Recently I’ve been chatting with a few guys that I met online, and we’re organising to catch up (not all at the same time, obviously). We’ve been very clear that this is friendship-based only, so that’s all sorted.

I think it’s a great opportunity to meet people outside my usual social circles. I’m meeting up with someone for a drink tomorrow night, and am quite looking forward to it.

Have to say though, just in case anyone’s worried, I’m not taking any risks… it’s all in public places etc.
