MERRY CHRISTMAS! 1 week ago

So my mom didn’t move in with me (her choice, not mine), but I was able to de-virginize her so to speak this year. That sounds weird since I’m referring to my mom. LOL. Anyway, my mom has never been on an airplane, so this Christmas, instead of taking the bus to MD, she is flying from JFK, courtesy of her Nickey-Knocky-Knows. I actually love that nickname, now that she has explained it to me. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE AND ADORE my MOMMY.

This summer! 6 months ago

My mommy is moving in with me at the end of the summer. I’m so excited. This year has been about giving her things that she hasn’t been able to give herself. She sacrificed a lot for me. I can never repay her, but at least she can know that I appreciate it. I still have to send her on vacation, but I’m working on it.

One way to give back... 10 months ago

Well, maybe it’s two ways to give back?

I fixed up her resume and helped her to create a cover letter for a position that she was really interested in, which was great. She’s been doing the same job for more than 25 years, and it’s gotten a little old. I’m hoping to help her as she sees positions that look interesting to her.

Also, I am helping her to organize a small side business, which is selling her artwork online. She creates truly interesting sculptural pieces and multimedia Mexican folk-inspired art, which I think is fabulous. I am looking forward to getting her up and running with that, because I know that it will be a hit!

New cabinets. 11 months ago

Well, I’ve taken a couple of steps toward giving back to my mom: 1)have been encouraging her to have more confidence in her intellectual abilities by talking with her about literature and things that she’s interested in and 2)have started a savings fund so that I can pay for new cabinetry for the kitchen. The cabinets, in the last month or so, have started falling apart, and they need to be completely replaced. Unfortunately, that’s expensive, and Mom doesn’t have the money for it.

I owe her a lot, anyway.

My mom is the best. She’s not reading this, so I’m not trying to butter her up. But, it’s true that she’s supported me as much as she could when I’ve needed it. I’m looking to give back. As corny a gesture as it seems, I’d like to sponsor her going on a trip with me in the next year. Maybe sometime next summer?

bit by bit 2 years ago

she deserves much more but i have been showering her with special little gifts lately and that’s a good thing.

goal started 2 years ago

so right after i started this goal my mom let me know what my tab from the bank of MOM was up to. i guess i have made a dent in it now, so that’s good. gave her 25% of my share of this year’s tax return.

She's always had 2 or 3 jobs 3 years ago

I’d like to be able to afford to give back to my mom so that she doesn’t have to work so hard. She sacrificed a lot for me and I’d like to make life easier for her. SO, I’m working on it…
