The only thing that detracts from the beauty of the city is the millions of pigeons. You can’t hardly put a foot down without stepping on one. Watch your feet:)

The year was 1996. I was 18, and I was on a tour of Europe for the summer. It was a gift I was given as a graduation present. We visited several places, but my favorite stop was in Venice. I met an Italian boy with beautiful lips and he offered to take me on a moonlight tour of many of the historic bridges in the city. Needless to say, althought we visited many different bridges, it was not an educational experience…at least not in it’s historical aspects ;)
Prices go up in tourist season, and it’s just not the same walking around, either. I was lucky enough to have a friend who lives there and visited him, went to some good bars.. good time! June, I’m going to Rome/Florence/Pisa but that will be more sight-seeing and back to work sort of thing. Oh well! :-)

Girl, get out of debt and same some real money for a fantasy trip with hubby.
Went to Venice for the day this past August. WAY too short of time. I hope to visit it next year if possible. Have a wonderful pizza lunch, drank some refreshing Prosecco, rode the water taxi, and shopped! Can’t wait to go back.

I love this place. It is one of the most picturesque places on Earth. My favorite spot is on the front steps of the Guggenheim. (Peggy had a nice little house with waterfront steps on the Grand Canal.) Sitting there taking in the views is one of those feelings I will never forget.
I liked Rome and Florence better, though. The gondola ride was a disappointment, and the city itself, while beautiful, is very crowded and touristy.
