A Girl in the Curl is back in school

Ooooh my damned back 2 years ago

I’d say this is as disgraceful as I wanna get.

The next time I’m on the floor with my legs up in the air like this, Hugh Jackman better be part of the picture, is all I’m saying.

How To Grow Older Disgracefully 3 years ago

You may not know who she is but chances are Elaine Sihera is older, wiser and sexier than you are. In her new book, Growing Older Disgracefully, Elaine shares her experience, wisdom and the secrets to great sex appeal.

With people in Britain living longer, to such an extent that, by 2025, the number of people over 60 will outnumber those under 25, and with new anti-age discrimination laws coming into effect this October, 60 is fast becoming the new 40, 40 the new 30, and being old the new… well, new… or at least re-newed!

But are attitudes to old age and ageing moving fast enough to keep up with statistics and legislation? In an honest, straightforward, yet amusing and engaging style, Elaine advises on how to handle the ageing process without fear, embracing all that life still has to offer, rather than waiting quietly on the sidelines for its end.

But growing old disgracefully doesn’t mean older people running around naked and doing naughty things, or losing all sense of responsibility, behaving selfishly or immaturely. As Elaine explains:

“…Disgraceful behaviour in older people is one which takes us out of our comfort zones, that defies predictions and unchanging expectations; one that extends our knowledge, our boundaries and our reach. It is an attitude that takes us to new vistas and venues, to new heights of pleasure and personal appreciation of the unique and formidable beings we become as we age; one that brings us firmly and unmistakably into the modern era. In short, behaviour which helps us to defy ageing and regard it simply as a number marking the stages of our life instead of bringing fear and dread and controls our living.”

For example, she exhorts older people to have as much sex as possible because it is ‘good’ for their health. People should get out of their straitjacket of sexual taboos and protocol and go for it.

“The warmest feelings come from a loving and intimate relationship. If there are not enough men to go around when we reach our 60s (there being two women to every man at this time), then there are always other women, or other men, who desire a harem! But let’s not fiddle about here. Life is for living and growing older disgracefully is about abandoning the sexual straitjacket we confine ourself in, especially one that fits the prudish expectations of yesteryear and the old restricting traditions we were reared under. Instead, we should be aiming to have good quality sex lives as a key objective because the quality of our life, and even our health, depends upon it.”

Writer, broadcaster and public speaker, Elaine is a very successful empowerment coach as well as the leading authority on diversity and equality issues in Britain, through the only British book on the subject, Managing the Diversity Maze. Elaine enjoys facilitating greater fulfilment and personal happiness.

Other titles by Elaine include Money, Sex and Compromise: The Hidden Agenda in Modern Relationships and most recently, 10 Easy Steps To..Finding Your Ideal SoulMate!

10 Easy Steps to Growing Older Disgracefully will be published by AnSer Publishing in October 2006 (ISBN: 0951734156).
