Well, the biggest problem is that I have a horrible speaking voice. I mumble and am softspoken. I lack presence and personality. Are there classes for this? Mainly, I want to use it as an educational tool. I want to have my students create podcasts regularly. So first I need to learn how to do them. I also want to find good podcasts to emulate. I have a good microphone now and a Macbook Pro with Garageband, so I have no excuses. I also have a good book that I intend to read and I enrolled in a podcasting class at the community college. It’s on for this year.

I worked with my middle school after-school tech club to finally make a podcast…
My work agreed to pay for a podcasting class I found at the University! I took it on Tues 11/21 and while it wasn’t that hands-on, I got some good ideas, a few new connections, and a pretty good book on podcasting!
This weekend I listened to one of my favorite podcasters, Nik-in-Paris, who talked a bit about his equipment choices and general thoughts about podcasting. I’d recommend listening to it if you’re like me and are trying to work up the nerve/resources….
With i life 6 it was easy. I made a podcast about poetry for my students and posted it to a website for them. Need to practice now.
I want to learn to podcast voice recordings to help my students with revision. I,m trying to learn to use Garageband on ilife 6 but haven’t yet worked out how to get best quality and how to make a 30min recording take up a small space.
Today I wrote a simple PHP script which makes it super easy to put up your own podcast.
the hard part is still making good material to put online…
... but at least you won’t have to monkey around with learning about blogging, RSS, MIME enclosures, and all that nonsense.
If you know how to make mp3s and upload them to a webserver, then you’ll be able to use this script to turn them into a podcast.
Enjoy!
