Step 1: Get rid of clothes I don't wear 2 weeks ago

This weekend I did manage to make a significant dent in my clothing and get rid of a bunch of stuff I haven’t worn in a while. It felt so good to purge myself of all this junk that’s just cluttering my closet.

Now I’m going to see if I can sell some of this stuff..

next up: shoes, bags, and then the dreaded papers…

    oh NYC... 3 weeks ago

Living in a shoebox 5th floor apartment in a non-elevator building in Manhattan has it’s perks…it’s in Manhattan. Other then that the perks pretty much end, but that’s what you get for living in the cultural hub of the world. Basically when you live in a one bedroom (which really shouldn’t be called a one bedroom, because pretty much all that fits in the bedroom is a bed) with a boyfriend, things can get cluttered real quick. I want to start getting rid of things I dont use/clothes and shoes I don’t wear and re-organizing what I do so I can stop being mad at my apartment. Beacuse really it’s not the apartment’s fault..

So much better! 15 months ago

Right before I moved I threw out a bunch of stuff and gave two huge bags of clothing away. Then when I got into my new place I gave awat 2 more huge boxes and 3 more bags of clothing. It is so much nicer and goes way beter with my decorative style which is very minimalist.

    Letting Go 17 months ago

One of the hardest things is letting go of stuff “I think I might use.”
I have had several decor items from my very first apartment (circa 3 years ago!) that I still have held on to. Things that went with my prior decorating theme (Cheap, Walmart, Tropical) don’t go with my current decorating trends (quality, serenity, and comfort).
    I HAVE TO LET GO!

    Tough Love 17 months ago

    Man this goal is HARD!!!
I am moving, and trying to declutter before I move.
I am hoping that the iminant move will force me to de clutter.
Several coworkers have offered their home up for a group garage sale, which is nice becaus my apartment complex has NO where to have a yard sale.
As I sort through things I laugh at some of the silly things I have kept. Some things I want to keep holding on to even though I know I should get rid of it…
I also gave a few bags of things to one of the women’s shelter’s in town. There will also be a bag of business clothes for the “Dress for Success” charity in town as well.
It is WAY easier to give away stuff when you know it is going to a really good cause, and especially personal for me, helping women who are escaping abusive relationships.

I’m a pack rat, and I’m a mom. Everything seems to have a sentimental value. However, my apartment is small and the clutter is taking over.

Sell! Sell! Sell!! 22 months ago

I want to sell a bunch of things that are messing up my apartment but there is still like 4 feet of snow on the ground….
I don’t want to eBay my stuff wither cause I am always so paranoid of shipping things…

I sold some Books!! 22 months ago

    I sold 5 books!
It was nice to start the de-clutter process.
I also went through my clothes and got rid of 5 bags of sweaters, pants, and even socks!
I am thinking that nect I will get rid of the movies I don’t watch…

Need to get on this! 23 months ago

This is really starting to agitate me!
I need to get these piles out of my house!
I don’t want to throw it all away, but I am afraid that will be the only option. I can’t seem to sell any of it, and I need to find away to see if someone wants it for free!

    Making Piles... 23 months ago

Although I know this won’t initially help de-clutter my apartement, although, I am going to make some piles in my apartment. The biggest one will be the “Garage Sale” pile.
Since I dont have a garage (and it’s the dead of winter), this pile will be boxed up when I move and will go to my parents place for a garage sale in the summer.

Another pile will go straight to the garbage. This will be the pile for crap that wont sell, or things that are old and useless.

The other pile will be the “maybe” pile. It will be all the junk I think I should get rid of but am not quite ready to do so, like some of my movies, and what not. Over time, while I am packing up to move, wheneve that is, I will sort through this pile and see if there is anything I can sell, or if I really can’t part with it, or if I should just throw it out.

My major challenge with this goal will be finding space in this small apartment for those three piles.
