No kidding – I asked all my friends what they really would like to receive from me if I happenend to pass away prematurely. My husband died when i was 37 and in his will there was nobody but me. His best friend also was traumatized by his death and I decided to give him my husbands Porsche. I had own of my own and whon needs two?
Now i know that one of the girlfriends of me is going for my handbag collection, anotherone for my kitchen pliances and mockery. I decided on how I want the ceremony be held and who will get my life insurance.

How I did it: My main sticking point was not being able to afford a solicitor, and worrying about not getting it right if I did it myself. The turning point came when a friend told me she'd done hers and it was at a price I could afford. I contacted her solicitor and my partner and I arranged to see him. It didn't take us long to decide what we actually wanted to happen, and we went along for a chat about what needed to be done, he dr… Read how I did it…

Daffer_Kent great weather, and a pleasant day
I bought one of those will-writing packs a few years ago. I dug it out and I’ve drafted my will. Now to double-check it, print it and get it witnessed.
I am writing my will in November.
I also have to get updated copies of my life insurance policy, Numan’s LI policy, and a bunch of other accounts. Get copies made and put into a special place so if I die they are accessible.
RoniPip is getting ready for fall/winter
I have an old will which is very short and somewhat outdated and not easy to find (I THINK I know where it is…).
Plan:
1. When: End of October.

I actually met with a lawyer to talk about this, and he suggested that I not die until my daughter turns eighteen. I thought about changing my goal to that but it would be too morbid.

As a parent with two young children, it is bonkers I haven’t done this before. A month or so ago, I found a firm that will do it for me for £105….not too expensive really. Watch this space
Why does this seem so difficult to do? I’d be so angry at myself if I got hit by a bus tomorrow and hadn’t gotten this done!

Bequest: I know the charity I wish to leave a bequest to, and have their information so I know the correct wording. I don’t have much family so working out the who gets what rubbish is easy, and it’s made easier by me not actually having much to start with!
The Public Trustee will help me write my will, be the executor of my will (saving any member from my family from having to do so at such a horrible time, well it may be horrible!) and will even witness it so everything is legal. I just have to make an appointment with them, knowing the outlines of what I want to leave to whom and they help word it all in legal speak. Being the Public Trustee, they will also hold the will legally until I die.
The best thing is: Making your Will with the Public Trustee as your executor is free of charge, as are any subsequent updates you make as your circumstances change. Fees for estate administration are only incurred when the estate is administered. (Yay!)
Now I have to work out the funeral arrangements as this can be held with the will so my family need not worry about much except the little things they wish to add.
It will be good when this is done. I think everyone should have a will. It’s the responsible thing to have done so those left behind don’t have to deal with these issues.

I looked into this and discovered that I should settle some financial issues before I organise this with a solicitor. Those should be sorted in the next couple of weeks. Citizens Advice Beaureu Scotland website (www.cas.org.uk) has some good advice that i intend to follow.
